RE: Someone took out my bright eyes!

I have a friend who uses the bright eyes on his own property. Last season some smart azz was trespassing and thought he would have some fun rearranging his bright eyes to lead him into a swamp on his property. He fell in the swamp and was unable to get out. he was in the water for 18 hours and spent 3 days in the hospital being treated for exposure. He nearly died because of this "prank". The trespassers were caught by a game camera and were charged and convicted. They had to pay all of his medical bills and if he had died they would have been charged with manslaughter.

Oh BTW,the reason he couldn't get out of the swamp is that hehas a severe back injury and spends most of histime in a wheel chair. He loves tohunt and gets out as much as he can.

If you guys who keep saying this are serious about it then you seriously need lives. The thought of grown men in the woods, prancing around rearranging other men's tacks is quite laughable
HH, you've been here a little over a year now and if you don't know peoples personality's by now then maybe you shouldn't post in a thread like this where you might end up looking foolish. Sit back, read and learn who is saying what and learn to understand what is being said and how it is presented.
BTW, the one quote that brought your response is from DavidMil and it was a joke as was mine way back on page 2 I think and and lot more in between.

Sorry to hear about your friend. I do hope he is able to get out, hunt and enjoy life....

The guys should be prosecuted for trespassing and one should be able to use markers on his own land if they choose. I have no problem with that.

One the other side of the coin, if one know their own woods they shouldn't need "Bright eyes" and one should know where the swamp is on their own land....

I am opposed to those who use tacks, ribbons and markers on Public and private land without owners permission. And methods used by my friend Hoytail who discovers his "Bright eyes" are missing in April; obviously he does not remove them at the end of the hunt nor the end of the season.

I hunt National Forest land and I am sick of all the markers left in the woods. I pull down all that ugly flagging tape all the time. That crap ruins the beauty of the woods and I consider it litter. I don't use it and I seem to find my way to my stand.
I matey, trash it is!!!

Heck if it was legal i'd drive around w/o my headlights on in the middle of the night, i know the roads around my house sooooo well. c'mon guys, if it's legal, dont worry about it. If you're all such macho "woodsmen" then why are you using such high tech hunting equipment? Sorry some1 took ur tacks, hopefully they put em in their back pocket and hopped in their truck. by the way i was being sarcastic about driving w/ my headlights off, in case some of you couldnt tell.

I dont like to see that in national forest either. However, I would not want to be the one caught pulling down legal ribbons put there as part of a timber sale, which can be prevelent even in the deepest back country. Someone may have paid good money to have the land surveyed!!!!

The trees are painted to mark timber sales or cut areas in the national forest I hunt.

Well said WesternMdHardwoods, it's gonna be real nice when someone gets lost and possibly dies because they had a few key tacks that made sure they were on the right trail, and one of these guys that can see in the dark decides "he" doesn't need that!!
Oh give me a break. The guy with the bright eyes all over the woods doesn't go deep enough to die. If you belong in the woods you won't keep walking into never never land. You'll say after about 2 tacks, "This isn't right, wait for daylight".

I'll second that, if someone needs bright eyes to get around the woods, then they need to lean how to read a map and compass. Also I wouldn't hunt here in the west, because you'll need a 5 gallon bucket filled with B eyes to find your way around.

...and it's just a little disheartening thatsomeone would mess with a fellow hunter's hunting. Why? Does he feel better knowing that someone will stumble around in the dark a little extra long to find their tree?

This reminds me of the time someone sabbotaged my bow rope by cutting it and leaving just a few strands.

Some people just suck.

No, I didn't do it. [8D]
