I've had many buckless seasons being my standards are up there a bit. I've let a pile of 120" to 130" bucks by. 130" on up is what I aim for. I've even let a few 3.5 year old 135 inchers pass knowing I had bigger guys around that given year. My success rate is pretty low and a bit sad for my liking- 20%.

This is a tough one for me to answer. I put 51-55%. I held my first liscense in 1967 BC (before compounds), also, I didn't start seeing treestands until the early '70s. There was also a time where I only gun hunted because I foolishly thought it was more important to chase girls around rather than bowhunt.[&o]I'm not sure how many archery seasons I've hunted. I know it's 30 or a little over though and there were quite a few 2 bucks, 2 states seasons as well. So best as I can figure I have at least 16 seasons that I killed at least 1 buck.

However, since I've been solely hunting for mature bucks (17 seasons), I'm 13/17 = 76.5%. Total mature bucks, 17/17. 16 bow and 1 gun.

3 years bowhunting with no buck in the first year, one the second year and 2 last year. So I was successful 2 out of 3 years for 66%.

66.6666667% of the years I score on a buck.
If I could shoot back in my younger days I'd be at over 90%.

That is it right there, if I were to have 140 and above rule I do now, I would be waaaay lower. I was 100+ for years. I think the numbers are misleading, IMO on Success. I had a succesful season this year, and I did not take a buck.

Respect to you

I totally agree. My best hunts ever, the ones that really stand out in my mind were hunts that I didn't shoot a deer.

Totally unrelated to what we're talking about here... But - I was just looking at this - thought there was some interesting info to be gleaned from it:

If you go to the link - it's interactive - and you can click on it and such... Cool.
