How many deer can you kill per year in your state?
I thinksome of the different views on HNI as far as what deer some hunters will take, come from what they can legally take .....
Example ... GMATTS thread on killing a fawn ....we can't take unlimited does here .. so I wouldn't waste a tag on afawn .... more power to YOU if you want to .... leaves more adults for me
Anyway if you buy all your tagsin NY (Big Game, Bowhunting and Muzzleloader), we cantake2 doeand one buck ...plus in most areas, you have a good chance to pull and antlerless permit .... maybe 2...
That is why I would feel like I was wasting my tag .....

Well, my archery tag comes w/ 2 any deer permits. I can shoot 2 bucks, but only 1 can be prior to firearms season. I can also kill 1 buck on a firearms tag, so in MO you can kill 3 bucks. I can buy as many doe tags as I want, and while there are some county restrictions as far as how many I can fill in each county, I can buy an unlimited number. For archery, MOST of the state allows an unlimited # of doe tags to be filled via archery method.
Oh, and on top of that, I can apply for a managed hunt. And if I get drawn for that, each hunt has it's own limits. Some are 3 does, some are 1 of each.....it just depends....So, if I were to get drawn for the right hunt, I COULD kill 4 bucks per year, and unlimited does.

More than I could ever kill. With doe tags available and the amount of DMAP permits issued I could kill 3 bucks and as many does as I could see in the year herin VA.

I AM "limited" this year to 180.[8D]

You get 5 deer west of the Blue Ridge and 6 east of the Blue Ridge with your Big game stamp, however nothing ive ever done, but believe is there, after your stamp is filled, you can by 2 antlerless tags at a time, 18.00 a pop.( i think )

PT-no antler restrictions in NC as of yet- but the sooner the better - they did reduce the buck tags from 4 to 2 a couple of years ago in the central season- eastern Nc is still 4
