How do you pay?
Some of you guys have so much stuff it aint even funny, No problem with that I'm sure you worked your butt off for it.... but for the most part, how do you guys pay the hunting bills?
For me, Idonteven have a credit card, It's all hard earned... disclaimer: I did "finance" an atv, and they sent me my remainingcredit line in a card..[&:] Also I'm a big Ebay Junkie.... I bought a G5 meta peep for 10.00 tyd.... same price as in a store, but i didnt have to pay taxes on it;). maybe thats taking it a little too far but it's how i am. I also bought the site on my bow from ebay brand new, at my shop=130.00, Ebay to my door= 80.00 |
RE: How do you pay?
Only thing I use creditfor is my house and vehicles... Only way to roll :D

RE: How do you pay?
Sweat equity. Bust my arse.
If I didn't work @ the shop, I wouldn't have 75% of what I do. He keeps a running tab for me, which I try VERY hard to keep under $200 at all times. Which isn't really difficult. I sell old stuff to pay for new, I cut grass in the summer....shoot, I even walk the ditches picking up aluminum cans to recycle. Now and then I hit it big and find a bunch of copper. Odd jobs, whatever it takes. The biggest is .......DON'T SPEND every 10 dollar bill you make here and there on soda and lunch. I have a drawer in my desk @ work I put it in. I work in BFE, so I can't spend it there anyway. And, if it's in my desk......I can't spend it when I get home. Next thing ya know there's 2 or 300 bucks in there.....HELLO SCENTLOK FULL SEASON!! WHOOHOOOO!!!! If you want it badly enough......there IS a way to do it. But you can't be afraid to work for it. Nothin's free in this world. The Hoyt dealer is not gonna show up @ your door and say Here, have this brand new Katera on us. Easton won't bang down your door to lavish you w/ arrows. You gotta earn it. It's called sweat. And it's good for ya. ;) DISCLAIMER: The use of the word "you" is meant generically, and is not directed at anyone in particular. |
RE: How do you pay?

RE: How do you pay?
I can't take it with me when I'm gone, so I might as well spend it while I'm here;)
I do save some though...gonna have to retire some day |
RE: How do you pay?
I swipe the plastic because it's convenient. I NEVER run a balance. I pay it off when the bill comes in. I've haven't paid interest on a credit card in 37 years. It's the same as cash except I don't have to carry the cash. I carry enough money to take care of emergency towing or whatever, but never more than 300 or 400 dollars, unless I'm going somewhere like my annual fishing trip to Canada where they want cash. Then I'll take a couple thousand.

RE: How do you pay?
Overtime at work, a little yard mowing, and gift giving. Though last month's overtime went toward some new furniture, kitchen flooring, insurance deductable, medicine prescription[&:].

RE: How do you pay?
I use the card and pay it off at the end of every month. Only reason I do this is because I know I have the $$$ to pay it off, and I earn points on the cards doing this that help me get more goodies. [8D] I haven't carried a balance on a card for almost 3 years now outside of the card I use for work expense and travel.
I've accumulated enough goodies over the years that I usually can sell something to come up with the money to buy something else. I rarely buy new unless I've got some sort of special deal on it, and this way I'm paying minimal $$$ out of pocket for just about anything. |
RE: How do you pay?
Save Save Save, and just about all of my purchases are hunting items. No video games, CDs, clothes, all that other junk otherteenagers buy. Just food, gas, and huntin' baby!

RE: How do you pay?
I use my Cabelas Visa to pay for just about everything and then pay it off every month. I earn a ton of points that way. Heck I am gonna spend the money anyway, why not earn something at the same time.:D

RE: How do you pay?
By the way, just ran into a friend of mine a while back. She said her and her hubby were headed to the bank hoping to consolidate some credit card debt into one bill. She said she had $5,000 card debt and her hubby $20,000 card debt........including from two new Artic Cats he had put on credit cards at Gander Mountain.
|
RE: How do you pay?
Holy Crap! i jsut bought an Arctic Cat! but yeh i got it for 1/4 of that.;)
|
RE: How do you pay?
Plastic, and Pay-off every month, and debit..
|
RE: How do you pay?
I just work as much as I can. Things are always tight no matter how much I work. I dont waste too much money on stupid stuff just so when I want something I just buy it and dont worry about it. Most of the time I'll swipe the cc and then take care of it at the end of the month.

RE: How do you pay?
1 piece of advice to everyone, cut up all credit cards NOW and be rid of them. They are a bad road to nowhere, even if you pay them off at the end of the month. If you need to use plastic,YOU CAN"T AFFORD IT.;)
Credit card companies have a slick way of "not recieving" payments in time, even if mailed in plenty of time(I have had this hapopen, more than once. Secondly, you have a much higher risk of having your identity stolen when you use them. Nothing can be bought with a credit card that can't be purchased with adebit card and the security is better.Plus, you are not using borrowed money. |
RE: How do you pay?
I get what I want on looks alone ..... I guess thats why I don't much :(
|
RE: How do you pay?
Swipe it and then pay it off monthly(except for my garage).....My house, harley's,atv's,boat's,car's,hunting stuffare all payed off,the only payment I have are my 08 pickup, garage(cc will be payed off by Oct)and 800 left on my 07artic cat(c card) I bought itthis lastfall.....
We want to be debt free by Feb 09 except for the 08Pickup witch should be payed off in 2-3 yrs.......... |
RE: How do you pay?
Quite a bit of consideration and saving goes into every major purchase I make.

RE: How do you pay?

RE: How do you pay?
I use cash, can't let the wife know THE REAL amount I spend on my hobbies, but for work travel I too use plastic b/c of exchange rates and the ease of using world wide as stated above, which gets paid off every month. Oh yeah, I use the world businees card for the internet purchases and the wife don't ever look at that card.....haha

I was convinced they were doing this on purpose.....some months we won't get our statement till way late in the month, then we only had a few days to get it back to the CC company. One time we got the statement, sent it out the next day and it STILL didn't get to them in time. I was furious, I told them there was NO WAY I was paying interest and that I would drop them if I did. Well they waived it and the next week I dropped them anyway. My business CC company is a little better but they still treat you like crap if you pay off your card every month. We have a DU card for our personal CC now and theyare at least slightly better but they sure want you to carry a balance..........Bloodsuckers.[:@] Pay them off every month fellas, I can't tell you how good it feels not to owe anyone anything! |
RE: How do you pay?
I have 2,800.00 left on two cards then they are payed off(2000 on one and 800 on the other). Then we are going to call all 6 cc company's and see who will give us the best interest ratethen we will take the 2 best and cancel the worst 4.......Its hard to rent a car,buy a plane ticket, reserve a hotel room with out a credit card...........Its also nice when I Fly & Ride...H.O.G.....
Then all I will have is a Pickup payment thats it............... |
RE: How do you pay?
I am fortunate , like mobo and a couple others to have access to equipment. It's not free , but at cost.
I still have to pay for it and I use a Corporate AmEx. I might carry a balance for 2 months if I have a lot of things I need , but never longer than that. I will save for the bigger items , like a new bow. I sell the old one's to help pay for the new. It all works out. I never have to take $ from the personal accounts. |

Hotels are also not a problem.
|
RE: How do you pay?
I dont have a debit card from my banks, they each wanted to give me one but told them no thanks...
|
RE: How do you pay?
With the only good thing the ex-wife gave me child support!!! When my daughter turned 18 and my support ended going to her I started having it put directly into a savings account or hunting fund as I like to call it now!!!! Walt

RE: How do you pay?
CC and no rolling balance. You gotta take advantage of the system to get you rewards poiunts. Cash gives no bonus.
Heck I charged an inground swimming pool, complete with vinyl fencing and landscaping. I'm proud to say that that purchase rewarded us with a couple flights and rooms. Cash would have left us with a pool. |
RE: How do you pay?

I'm an electrician and when I need some extra cash its not hard for me to find side work.

Credit identity theft please..deal with a rebutable company and you have protection from these types of things. It can happen to anyone .whethre you use a CC, Cash, Debit, or just talk too loudly in the DMV. A good Company covers you and protects you..just like the commercials (1st hand exp). So what does your cash, checkand debit card reward you with??? hmmm and don' say piece of mind. That ship sailed! :D |
RE: How do you pay?
I don't buy a lot of new equipment.I but good stuff and then use it for it's life, which can be quite long when you take care of your things.I am always searching for better and more efficient or practical clothing, but I rarely pay retail for them, like buying long underwear now versus in the fall.Knowing when to buy and where makes all the difference.
I don't carry cash or very little. My wife and I put every thing on our credit card,we pay it off completely every month,we get a statement at the end of the year showing every purchase by category which is helpful for tax purposes, and our card is an air miles card so I fly on my out of state hunt free practically every year. |
RE: How do you pay?
We use our CC all the time.....even carry a balance every now and then.
We're rewarded with freuent flyer miles......and we use them. We go to Mexico and Canada a couple times each most every year. I purchase everything I can on my CC.....and I'll continue to do so. Biggest thing Lisa and I have going for us is we put 20% of both our slaries into our retirement accounts. We work hard.....we just don't wanna be doing that when we get older.;) |
RE: How do you pay?
I'm surprised no one mentioned American Express.
I use Amex quite a bit, for personal and business transactions. There's no preset spending limit, no intrest, and must be paid in full every month. The points and rewards are pretty good as well. Certain Amex cards will get you preferred seating at sporting events and concerts, better selections at car rentals, complimentary accessto clublounges at airports, and preferential treatment at hotels and resorts. Not that I do anything so fancy......but just sayin.:D |
