Need input on my next Product
Being as this is my home away from home, and, I value everyone's opinions Iwould likesome input from any of you that want to help us before ordering my next product. We aregoing to be ordering somenew productwhich I need to get placed in the next few days. I know we need insulated cold weather gear.Another itemwe arelooking to add to our product line is fleece as a medium type garment. There are pros and cons to fleece, but the main thing with fleece is its quiet, warm, and comfortable. Im going to add a safety harness slot or hole with a flap on each chest item. You can also get some good water resistant treatments added to the fabric at the mill which I plan on doing with all our new product, its not that much more expensiveand I've personally witnessedwater resistant testing in the factory. I saw a piece of breathable plain 100% cotton fabric hold 1 quart of water for4 hours with no seeping or soaking and you can get it added to just about any fabric now. So, isfleece something I should add to our product line, or do we just go with cold weatherthinsulate stuff and what we currently have poly cotton brushed twill? Would you guys wear fleece pants or bibs, or just a jacket or pullover.
Thanks for any input. Andy [/align] |
RE: Need input on my next Product
After my first experience with fleece, I haven't bought any more except gloves. With all the beggars lice and other clinging stuff I always end up walking thru, I got tired of getting it all off or having it attach to all my other clothing when stored in the rubbermaid tubs after hunts. Nothing worse than getting to your stand and realizing that there's a burr in your longjohns[8D]
If I didn't have to worry about that, a fleece full zip jacket. |
RE: Need input on my next Product
Zip up jacket and bibs are a tough combination to beat, both for versatility and in this case an added layer of warmth.
But....IMO, if used in a layering strategy, elastic waistband pants, no zip up, are the way to go. |
RE: Need input on my next Product
I voted for the Full Zip and Regular pants..But you knew that already ;)
I'm excited about this water resistant stuff, it's really gonna be the bomb! Thinking out loud ~ maybe a UCsock style arm guard to help keep the fleece out of a bowstring? One of the drawbacks of fleece is the wind cuts through it. I wonder if some sort of wind liner is possible? Again just talking to hear myself lol.. |
RE: Need input on my next Product
I like the Pullover Jackets but the Full zip has it's advanatages. It would be nice to have a dence fleece with some wind stopping technology in it.

RE: Need input on my next Product
I love the pull overs, easy to pack in and pull on when you've settled in your stand after a long walk in or a chilly morning sit.

RE: Need input on my next Product
elastic waistband pants, no zip up, are the way to go. |
RE: Need input on my next Product
I prefer shirts/pullovers with no buttons and pants that can use a belt.
EDIT: I do not really like fleece anything although I do have a pair of pants that are fleece. |

[blockquote]quote: elastic waistband pants, no zip up, are the way to go. [/blockquote] Why does this post make me envision you laying around on the couch in your UC fleece sweats watching Oprah with a pint of Ben and Jerry's, Jerry Garcia ice cream;) |
RE: Need input on my next Product
I agree with Mobow. I think the full zip jacket and bibs is the way to go.

RE: Need input on my next Product
I am really partial to fleece jackets - full zip. As for the pants, I'm on the fence. I've owned bibs/pants and I have no real preference. Bibs are better for the longer sits in the cold, just by virtue of more body coverage, so I guess it would depend on how "heavy" the material/insulation is going to be. Are they "cool weather" pants, or "COLD weather pants?"
There was a company that had a "textured" fleece jacket out - and it really looked great. The fabric had an impression cut/sewn in that made the jacket "look" like actual treebark. A 3-d effect. That would probably really go great with your pattern. Just thinking out loud. |
RE: Need input on my next Product
Didn't vote. I do love fleece for stand hunting however, it will pick up so much stuff if you are walking. If I'm stand hunting, I may carry it in with me and put it close to the stand. I also like the tops as a complete pullover for bowhunting, no zippers or buttons, and close fitting. Turtle neck fleeces are pretty nice for an outer layering system.

Please a jacket:D

RE: Need input on my next Product
Full zip & bibs.
I HATE half zip jackets for hunting. I bought one several years back, and still use it often, but I hate it and can't wait til it wears out. |

I am curious to hear more about the treatment for waterproofing or resistance.I was intending to treat a bunch of fleece with theNikwax wash in product.
I prefer full zip any thing, gives the garment a lot more versatility for venting for longer hikes and changes in temperature through out the day. |
RE: Need input on my next Product
Out of all the Mad Dog stuff I got I've got to say the one thing I use the most is the pull-over fleece hoodie but I wish it had a half zip, it's a bit tight at the neck. If you can make it wind blocked that's a huge bonus.

RE: Need input on my next Product
Full zip top jacket and bibs, No top pockets on the jacket, or big flap lower ones to catch the bow string. Would like to see enough materal to cover the zipper when ziped, and an elastic band or draw cord at the bottom of the jacket to keep the wind out. Would also like to see a sock or survivor type hat for the cooler weather made from the same material.
My first pick is the jacket but would also like the vest or pullover for an under layer. And thanks Andy for considering our input. |
RE: Need input on my next Product
I didn't want to get locked in on one type so I didn't vote. But since you actually took the time and value our opinions I'll give you my personal design if I could. Fleece half zip pullover, with waterproof treatment, and a windstopper barrier sewn in. The half zip would also be offset to one side, and it would have side zip pockets. The bow arm sleeve would either have elastic or 3 cinch type straps to keep the material tight to my arm, and a grunt tube pocket on the chest. As far as bottoms go, I would go with regular bdu style pants minus the back pockets. The waist would have cinch straps to be adjustable as well as elastic cuffs at the bottom. These would also have windstopper barrier.
Build it and they will come! |
RE: Need input on my next Product
Yep I voted pants by accident, but andy I think you need a long sleeve T-shirt also.
ORIGINAL: Gundeck I agree with Mobow. I think the full zip jacket and bibs is the way to go. |
RE: Need input on my next Product
No Fleece!!!
Everything and I mean EVERTHING sticks to it!!! And it takes forever to get it off!! I personaly do not like it!![:@] |
RE: Need input on my next Product
I went with Jacket and pants. I pm'd you on another thought didnt see this thread until after I did it.
Actually pants and bibs would be good. Pants for early season here then Bib for the colder part of the season. T |

I am also interested in Blaze/Camo with this pattern.
With 600,000 + that invade our state during the Regular gun season their has to be a market. Add the extra tzone (Antlerless) gun seasons and we have a winner. Then add Michigan, Minnesota, and Illinois with there season. BAM.:D Just my wittle opinion buddy. Bob give your cuz a call in Beloit see what he might think just for another cheesehead opinion bro. T |
RE: Need input on my next Product
If you do fleece, make it windproof. Thats the key to me and what I look for immediately when considering any.
Full zip jacket and pants. Have you considered a material like Wolfskin or even wool? expensive but oh so nice. :)I nice lined Wolfskin jacket would be sweet. |
RE: Need input on my next Product
AI voted half zip simply because they are more of a layering item in my head! I am not a fan of the pants, unless they are not very bulky. I like to layer up more then rely on my outer garments?
I wish more people would come out with camouflauge plain old blue jeans, they are difficult to find! I wear jeans everyday, so that is what I feel most comfortable in while hunting.... but that is not what this post is about! Andy, I am sure whatever you guys will come up with will be just as great as the line of products you have now! Still cant wait for turkey season to give it some time in the woods!! |

Thats PA for ya.;):D:D:DHe should of stayed in Wi and put up with the IL folks.[8D]
Checked her out and very interesting site, thanks |
RE: Need input on my next Product
I take it you are talking microfleece and not full fleece? Microfleece is not so bad at clinging things, they can be brushed/picked off easier, but full fleece:(. I agree about the windbarrier lining, if it don't add too much expense. Perhaps make that an option?
