Hey guys..talked to a elderly gentleman at the bow shop today who uses two blade broadheads. I've always used three blade muzzys, and liked them. But I guess it's like the fellow that always ate vanilla ice cream, how does he know he won't like chocolate better? Does anyone out there shoot two blades, and why? Just had to ask. Thanks...

I prefer the 3blade heads. I picked them because they appealed to me aesthetically.
I Think alot of people prefer two blade heads because they either like the look of them, for tradition, or for the better penetration.

I read something about this recently and if I remember right it goes something like this...the kinetic energy is, basically, more in a single (2 blade) than a multiple (3 or more) blade broad head because the energy is being distributed over a smaller area and therefore the blade has more ability to penatrate.

I started out using 2 bladed broadheads and like alot of things went with the new 3 blade on the market at the time.I now use the 3blade 125gr thunderhead.I believe where you hit a deer is more important then any broadhead.

i tryed thunderheads, and a couple of other 3 blade heads but with my set up i just couldent get them to fly right, a friend was shooting razorheads and gave me one to try. man what a difference no more changing my sight for broad heads to field points and back. no more for me they fly where i point them and that is the whole reason i use them.
it dont matter what broadhead you shoot as long as you hit what you aim for.

Most of the answers above including asthetics, penetration and tradition are all reasons I use the Zwickey eskimo 2 blade head. Not to mention it breaks bone real good. However, many good fixed multiple blade heads will do a good job if you put them in the boiler room. Of course, you gotta be able to place the head where you want it to go, so with a 2 blade head, bow tuning is critical for good flight. They will magnify any problems with the tune of the bow or spine of the arrow.

An arrow with a Bear Razorhead, Magnus or Zwickey on it simply LOOKS like an arrow is supposed to look.
I've tried practically every style of broadhead on the market and I still go back to the 2-blade. Started out with them when I was just a kid in the 50's and I'll finish with them. They've NEVER let me down.
Plus, they are the only style of broadhead I can freely recommend to anyone, for any game, with any legal draw weight setup.

For deer size game I like more cutting surface, so I go with 3 or 3 blade heads. If I ever get the chance to hunt realy big critters I very well may go with a 2 blade cut to the tip style head. For the most part the ones I have tested have been excellent. The good old Bear razorhead is one of the top heads I have tested!
