you're just looking for crap to argue about now |
RE: Even if you did......
I honestly don't think the average HNI hunter is any different then any average hunter.
This place encompasses the whole spectrum. I know guys that are a lot more consistent then I am that have never been to a hunting web site. |
RE: Even if you did......
I don't want ANYONE to get the wrong idea about this......but isn't hunting deer a pretty simple mindset? I'm not taking anything away from anyone when I say this.
We knw they have to eat......so we look for places we can ambush them in between where they sleep and where they eat. Since we know they also sleep/bed.....we know we have to locate where they do this. Since we know they have to breed.....and know they are prolific in this endeavor.....we can discern the places the does live and frequent....and again try to ambush them or lie in wait in areas that make an encouter MOST likely. Do these things change......based on the properties we hunt? I READILY admit to being a novice.....but if everyone (I assume) takes this approach to deer hunting......wouldn't it make sense that the variables could be diminished? Let's start, there.....with a different tone. |

There is no way I could walk out to Idaho with Shed33(without his help) and be successful. He's a fine hunter. Dedicated. So are you.;) You'd learn......given the same curve. |

RE: Even if you did......
Are there those who have a certain "flair" for discerning and dissecting new gorunds? That's what I was getting at with the post about taking a bunch of guys to a place they have never been and see what the results would be3 days scouting 5 days hunting. There are people that have hunted the same 40 acres and stands their whole life(nothing wrong with it)and guys that move around a lot. |
RE: Even if you did......
Sure I would. I take alot of pride in it, find it as rewarding as the actual hunt sometimes. It's fun to disect new land and then kill one off of it. I finf it very fulfilling. I start a new one, this fall. |
RE: Even if you did......
but I don't considerall of the regularsto be average Just curious Charlie, what are those other "consistent" guys doing different than you(IYO). Acouple have land that they manage very well, another is one of those people that just lives breaths killing big racked bucks and I don't know waht he does different because he won't go with anyone. I could kill a buck every year, choose not to. I don't own my own land so I am consistently looking and trying to get permission where they are. I have seen really nice deer the last few seasons, haven't been able to seal the deal. They probably got that way by spending their time in the woods instead of spending hours staring at a computer screen and pounding away on their keyboard |
RE: Even if you did......
ORIGINAL: GregH Even if you were able to hunt someone elses (HNIer) spot, could you really expect the same results? Why or why not! ;) Why? Well even if it were an equal learning curve the fact still remains that some hunters ARE indeed better than others...sorry but this is true. I know of some hunters that have been at it longer than I that couldn't hunt their way out of a zoo and I also know others who are much younger and have less experience than I who just seem to "get it" and are successful hunters............And we all hunt the same land. So, no even if I were able to hunt another HNIer's land I would never EXPECT the same results. Mine might be better and they might be worse, no matter how long I hunted it. |
