Need rear deployment meh. BH without rubber band
I liked the Grim Reaper at first but not anymore since it's a jacknife style.
I started to like the Rockymtn. Snyper but it uses a rubber band. What I want is a rear opening mechanical that uses no rubber bands. Suggestion? |
RE: Need rear deployment meh. BH without rubber band

ORIGINAL: TEmbry Rage?? I use a rubberband anyway with mine though. seriously, why do you use a rubberband anyway? They sometimes open in the quiver? The rubber band doesn'tcreate a whistle in flight? edit: I originally didn't like the Rage because of the ferrule design but who knows now, crow soup it might have tobe. |
RE: Need rear deployment meh. BH without rubber band
Rubberband is tight against the head, no noise. Probably not needed, but i did it as cheap insurance on the advice of other users on here. After all, mech heads are going to fail at some point, right?:D[8D]
Yes, they are tricky in some quivers (my old one laying around), but work perfect in mine. Never open up anymore. |

Hey Jeff,
if you see this, come on in bud, the water's warm! :D |
RE: Need rear deployment meh. BH without rubber band
NAP Spitfires do not use a rubberband
|
RE: Need rear deployment meh. BH without rubber band
You know my answer.....and I've actually shot the broadhead.;)

btw- the spitfires would be "my" pick over the rage if it's rear opening.
unless there are known problems with them. |
RE: Need rear deployment meh. BH without rubber band
spitfires are not rear deploy, but let me add i dont think you have nothing to worry about if you use the rage.

RE: Need rear deployment meh. BH without rubber band
What's wrond with a rubber band or O-ring?
|
RE: Need rear deployment meh. BH without rubber band
The more I think about it, the more it kinda doesn't matter, (at least with the rubber band)or so I think?
Topic Adjustment: Now I want rear deploy BH suggestions that use rubber bands but no o-ring. I don't like the idea of changing out o-rings that are next to razors. |

nope, do tell
|
RE: Need rear deployment meh. BH without rubber band
Put a field tip on your arrow.
Slide the oring (or kinda roll it) onto the arrow shaft. Remove field tip. Screw in rage head (closed) SLide or oll o-ring into the slot on the head. Done. Elapsed time.....less than 1 minute. |

well now that I've established for myself that rubber bands and o-rings don't matter anymore, are there any other rear deploy recommendations? Weak flimsy blades need not apply.

Hoytail check out the G5Tekan II broadheads. They are rear opening.

Why don't you just shoot a Slick Trick and then you get mechanical quality flight and cutting abilityandwon't have to worry about deploying blades, rubber bands, o-rings, weak or flimbsy blades, or any of the other draw backs to mechanicals. ;)
![]() In all seriousness, if you are really hung up on shooting a rear deploying broadheadI would look at the Trophy Ridge undertaker or smoke broadheads. |

RE: Need rear deployment meh. BH without rubber band
im getting the grim reapers cuz they show on being shot into a piece of plywood at a 60 degree angled shot and it just goes straight through it and dident get deflectd and plus i've heard its good for turkeys. good luck

RE: Need rear deployment meh. BH without rubber band
Kerry, thanks for the suggestions.
Steve, those snuffers of yours aren't "pretty". I like pretty. I like fly like field point reliability too. Jeff, yes I have OCD. You should've seen howbent out of shape mentallyI got last year when my bow came in and there was a small imperfection in the camo on the riser. Dan, I was very impressed with the Grim Reapers too but that 60 degrees you're talking about is the MAX angle that the BH will perform. A piece of plywood is flat, a deer is not. It has curves that could make the hit of the angle be higher than 60 degrees on a deer that's already 60 degrees quartered. Trying to take a heart shot on a hard quartered deer is even moreso out of the question. The physics of that is just too risky in MY opinion. I don't get to hunt much so I want odds in my favor. Andif you're thinking it... that I shouldn't shoot a mechanical if I want the odds in my favor, I've considered that and the odds weigh out more in my favor by shooting them. See thread about to be posted. |

RE: Need rear deployment meh. BH without rubber band
The latest Bowhunter magazine has a run down on most of the popular mech broadheads. It compares rear and front openers. He discusses rubber bands.

RE: Need rear deployment meh. BH without rubber band
Well, I saw "OCD" so instantaneously my OCD kicked in and I had to respond admitting to it whether or not it pertained to me because If I didn't, I'd feel like there was something not right with me not saying anything about my OCD. Frik, I wanted to use OCD 4 times in this response. Oh wait, I did. YES!!!
