The above stuff was quoted from the Thinking Rage thread. Where the hell does it say were criticizing your shot here? All it says was if it were broadside!!! You had to start a whole thread just because of this? Thats crazy!! You go to extremes with some of your point proving, specialy when you said yourself it wasn't broadside. There really was no need for this thread. It blows me away on what you think criticism is. This isn't close to being criticism.

Deer died within 50 yards thats pretty optimal to me... dont get what the discussion is about.

LOL.....awww man, this is too funny. I'm not sure how anyone can pick apart a shot that hit the heart, killed the deer quickly, and was recovered w/in 60 yards...WHAT on earth is there to be critical of??? Sounds likea perfect shot to me.

I stated earlier in this thread that it LOOKED a little far back, but I also openly admited I don't know how much the deer was quartering. OBVIOUSLY the shot was perfect. HE HIT THE DAMN THING IN THE HEART! Seriously, can it be any better?

To be honest, if the arrow exited behind the leg, it's doubtful that it hit the heart. The heart is located pretty far forward in the chest cavity.

so if one actually hits the shoulder blades and it penetrates through, does it take out the heart?? Broadside that is..

I had one spin on me one time,still don't know how it happened.Itended up beingfrontal shot that went through one lung and took out the heart, watch it die in about ten seconds,I guess that was an optimal shot too. When it all started I was shooting at a deer standing broadside.


Proud of the shot: Did you hit where you were shooting? You said you missed judged the distance etc. I proably would have been thinking to myself better to be lucky then good sometimes? No Iw wouldn't be "proud" of the shot I would be thankful the deer didn't suffer etc.

Optimal: It resulted in a dead deer and it died in a short time.

The shot placement you had was very goodfor a quartering away deer, from a treestand. Considering your height and angle it is just about perfect I would say.

I do however completely disagree with you on the above quote. If you aim (I said aim) where your entrance hole is on this deer on a perfectly broadside shot, you are really flirting with disaster. If you are off an inch or two left, you have a gut shot deer. On a perfectly broadside deer, the OPTIMAL shot placement is to follow the very back of the front legabout 1/3 of the way up a deers body. It gives you the most margin for error a couple inches in any direction. When I take a shot on a deer, I want a margin for error. Aim where the entrance is on this deer, and your only margin for error is to go forward and maybe down. Back and your eating sandwhiches for 8 hours before beginning your track.

And seriously, you are becoming famous forposting, askingfor other peoples opinions and then denouncing or criticizing what other peoples opinions are.
