Yes, and no. The house was owned by some rich fellow from "Chicago" who was pretty much never around. Its in a beautiful spot too, on top of a hill overlooking the 300 or so acres it sat on with a nice pond. That's probably a good 1/2 mile away from where the photo was taken in NW IL.

Perhaps this fall my luck will change. I think we've got a pretty good spot lined up.

Count yourself lucky Justin, I've been hunting closed to 35 years and have only seen 5-6 legit 140" in my life. One mans junk is another mans teasure.

Troy - yeah, it's kind of a long story. If it were up to me personally, I'd probably still be hunting there. However, I was at the mercy of other people on that decision. The worst part is that finding ground to hunt in that same area these daysis pretty close to impossible. It's one of the most scenic areas in the state, and also one of the closest to Chicago so it's become the "rich man's playground" so to speak. In the 10-ish years I hunted there I saw a lot of monster bucks, but I was young and dumb with no idea how to hunt. Same stand every day no matter the wind direction, time of year, or conditions? You betcha!

Ah well, such is life. I've got a few deer on my wall, some great experiences, and memories to last a lifetime. How can I really complain?
