Who's gonna be the first?

Who's gonna be the first archery company to be on a Nascar....car? I dont think is happend has it? This is the way i see it:

Chevrolet.... Jr. maybe?----Bowtech

Dodge...Who Cares?--------Hoyt

Ford....Who realy cares?----Matthews

Toyota...??-----------------PSE

Talking about supporting the archery world....Do you think it would help, hurt, or no effect?

RE: Who's gonna be the first?

Bowtech Shooter (Pat) already said that Bowtech talked to one crew, the price is outrageous and it didn't happen.

Bowtech sponsered a nascar truck for a few years...I don't know if they still are.

Ouch! Lol

I'd say Bowtech, if any company, will be on a car first. I'd say it'd be a decent idea. Both sports, are based on the same "type" of people.

What I mean by that is that I'd be willing to bet that about %90 of Dale Sr.fans were hunters. Maybe more. ;)

RE: Who's gonna be the first?

Can't afford to sponsor a car...We looked into it back in 2003 and they wanted $250,000.00 for a 10" window sticker on a quarter panel...(whereno one would ever see it). Can you imagine what a team sponsorship would cost...;)
Just read that Rob, still a good what if....

to sponsor a Sprint Cup team for a season is (i think) anywhere from $1mil. to $10 mil. per season. i checked it is @10mil. a season.

Aww come on Dan your just upset there are no big tracks in the Pacific Northwest. LOL [8D]

If I remember correctly I think Mathews also sponsored a lower Nascar series car briefly or something like that, and I do remember about 3 yrs ago or so Bowtech was on one in the Truck Series

Personally, I was wondering how long before one of the bow companies had their brand name dropped in a country song.

"Rollin down a backwoods Tennessee byway, one arm on the wheel...
holdin myFred Bearwith the other: a sweet, soft, southern thrill."

If Bowtech didn't have so many "corporate staff" members, maybe they could afford a hood in the sprint cup:D

Damn, can I wait to post this until I'm done getting my bow tuned?

NASCAR isn't for everyone.

'Course.......neither is groundhog hunting.;)

On the surface.....boxing seems barbaric. It isn't called the "sweet science" for nothing, though.

NASCAR racing is a lot more than a series of left turns. It's a chess game on wheels.

Matthews are the ones who like to spend money, I bet if anyone was going to do it they would be first in the Nextel series.

RE: Who's gonna be the first?

Not sure who would be the first, Bowtech has the name on TIm Sylvia's shorts when he fights, and he fought Couture, that has Hoyt vs. Bowtech. Not sure about Nascar, they are SOexpensive. I wonder what people (quiksilver) would say if the price went up by $10 on the Bowtechs and they were on a Nascar hood!

It wouldn't be that bad as long as they told everybody that $10 went to nascar sponsorship.:D

Whatever company it is will be the first on my list never to buy a bow from again. All it will prove to me is that they're gouging us enough to be able to piss money away on racing. Got nothing against racing but nobody is going to tell you it's economical.

Thats probably the best sentence in this thread. But happens all the time, did you quit buying Tide or Corn Flakes just because they are on a car?

They don't charge $800 for their product. ;)

So the difference is the cost of the product and not the principle?

I think Manson is selling sef-portrait pencil sketches on index cards. $5 apiece. Get 'em while they're hot!

I wouldn't say that its not the principle, Jeff.

But in a way, when a product becomes so expensive that it isn't affordable for the average person, where do we draw the line? Especially when the (in this thread/example) the most recent price jump was so that a company could get their name on a car?

I realize that we all have the right to refuse to buy, I know. But if I like the product, could afford the product easily last year, and the price jumps up $50-100 the next year... Its going to make me want to not buy that product.

But, lets not get into this again. ;)I stayed out of the last one, so...

Happens all the time. Our favorite vacation spot has gone up 80%/night since we started going there in 2004. But....they stay full. We booked this week for an October trip. When the demand falls.....so will the prices. See....we really can't expect for companies to sell us a product for a low price.....just because they CAN.

I'll refrain, too, Dan. Have a good weekend.;)

Bob you never miss an opportunity to try and put words in my mouth. Why is that?:D

No. I don't consider them "athletes". "Athleticism" as an advantage? Sure. Who are you talking about, specifically? As I sit here....I'm having trouble recalling anyone like the Bakers and Pearson types in the "sport", today.

But....it's easy to make fun of something you know little or nothing about.;)

Remember that next time someone watches a kid sit 200yds form a deer in a box blind (heated, of course)and shoot a 170" buck over a feeder on a 58deg. morning hunt (first day of).....inside a high fenceon TV......and asks you if that's the way you "Hunt".

Hold on there skippy, LOL I have worked the MI 400 for Cabelas when I worked for them. Nascar is a very diverse group. There is not one "type". My BIL work on a pit crew, and loves Nascar. Has not hunted a day in his life.

Most die hard fans are car guys. If your spending your extra cash on cars, you don't have any to hunt.;)

To hunt, or put into R&D where it belongs if you're a bow company... Exactly why I stand behind my original post that the first bow company to sponsor NASCAR becomes the first on my list not to buy from. (and for the record... no, I don't buy either Tide or Corn Flakes.)

I don't know why a bow company should be held to any different standardthan the aforementioned.
