Favorite Kind of Meat?

A lot of guys on here have probably stuck all kinds of different critters. What kind tastes the best. Personally, my favorite is antelope, with a close second being elk. Unfortunatually, I have stuck niether. What's your favorite?

I have had a buffalo patty and it was delicious.

I like all meat and I cant really pick a winner between beef (not store bought), pork, or venison.

I've heard Buffalo is very tasty. I've only experienced venison and bear, unfortunatly. Well, and upland birds.

Buffalo is tasty, but it tends to be a bit chewy.

My bull elk (other than beef/Porterhouse T) is the best meat I've eaten.

That wasn't my experience. You could have cut that steak w/ a fork.

I'm jealous of all the Elk answers.....never had it. :(

But I'll tell you a nice fat midwestern corn fed whitetail backstrap grilled whole after sitting overnight marinading is pretty tough competition in my book.
To this day the best meal I have EVER eaten was the backstraps that frank cooked up on a trip we made to Nebraska a few years ago. Holy crap I'd pay good money to have that meal over again. [:-]

:Dit's even better when it's a buck you killed that fell dead 10 yards onto a douche bag neighbors and you have to run over real quick and grab him ;)

RE: Favorite Kind of Meat?

I've had some excellent and very poor wild game. I find that hardly any of it is exactly like anything else. It depends largely on how it taken, where and when, what its primary diet consisted of, and how it was cared for after being taken. Of course, the cook has a lot to do with it too.

I've only had a bit of elk, it was good, though the bit I had was woefully overdone. The moose I have eaten was very nice, as was the bear and the buffalo I had was great. All in all though, I am still a fan of good old venison. I fancy dove, quail and duck quite a bit as well.

If I had to pick one, back in the college days when we used to semi-professionally hunt wild pigs, we would often take hold of suckling pigs and cook them whole over the coals or if we were hunting, in the oven. Stuffed with apples and stuffing... little salt and pepper those little porkers were fit for a king. No bigger than your average beagle most of them... some the size of a big tom cat... all of them just flat out delicious!

Elk with southeastern white tail coming in second. As for game birds, blue grouse can't be beat.

Of the guys saying some kind of bird.... Ruffed grouse is the best of all time. Personally, I cant imagine it getting better unless it is much heavier (more meat). That light, sweet... flavor is unbeatable. But for big game, I still say antelope...

Can you cancel my order for the string supressor?

J/K Seriously though, I still love but cant get over how opposite some people's opinion is. I love it. I couldn't imagine a better cut than a grilled anteolpe steak... Is it the different taste, or the different antelope???
