RE: How many of you do not use a Bow hand strap?

I just got one for my hunting bow because I'm trying to break my death grip habit. So far it's not helping.

(Spend your summers shooting 1500 grain arrows attached to your bow by 200lb test line into 40 lb fish.... and you'll understand the death grip)

When I first started out I didn't usu one, then over the years I started to and had them on my bows for a few years but now I'm back to not usingone. I guess I went back to my roots, I don't think you will ever see another on any of my bows again. It just feel more comfortable without it even though it was just sitting there loose.

Mine had one on it when I got it. I shot a few shots and decided I didn't like it, and it hasn't been on since!!!:)

I've used one from the beginning. I hold the bow so loosely now that my hand is pretty much open when I release. I've never had an issue with hand-torque. My bow's not a very forgiving bow either, so I know it helps alot.

I haven't used one for the last 4 or 5 seasons now, and don't plan on ever using one again. I still shoot plenty good to kill most every thing I shoot at, and that's good enough for me.

I shoot more consistently without one.
That makes no sense. The wrist strap does absolutely nothing on the bow other than stop it from falling out of someone's hand. If you can shoot without one, you can shoot with one, it does nothing.

I use one on my hunting bow. On my target bows I use a finger sling.

RE: How many of you do not use a Bow hand strap?

Im surprised I'm the only guy so far that uses it for carrying the bow in. I just assumed that's what it was for. I use it when shooting about 50% of the time, but walking in the woods, I can sort of flip my bow around, and just dead hang it off my wrist by the strap. Maybe I'm not supposed to do that, but it works great.;)

I have had one on every one of my bows since 1980.

If I don't use a wrist strap of finger sling, I'd tear up a bunch of sights, and cams. I broke a sight on a PSE Mojo 3d a couple months ago because the guy insisted I didn't need a finger sling [&:]. We patched things up and gave the guy a HUGE discount on a new sight and ended up making money.

There is a waythat a sling can cause inconsistent shooting.Don't know if it was kmunny's problem or not, but it does make sense, Rob.A lot of folks don't adjust their wrist slings properly. They cinch the things down to where their hands are roped onto the grip. Instead of letting you use a loose, torqe free grip, a too tight sling will force you to torquethehandle, which will naturally cause all kinds of accuracy problems.Slings have to be loose enoughto letyou to pull your hand about an inch away from the grip.

I agree with that AP, I mentioned just that previously and I guess I assume people actually read the forums, I know that is a wrong assumption. Had he read my post on a loose strap and then still posted that, it makes zero sense.

I guess we need to educate everyone on wrist straps. Funny thing is, after all these years I don't think we've discussed this topic much if at all.

I have used them in the past but not anymore. I do not have anything against them. To me it is one more thing to deal with.

I haven't used one for a long time. Ilikejust being able to grabmy bow when a deer is coming in and not having to weave through a strap.

I don't. You can anchor without one.

Color me confused. [&:] What the hell does a wrist strap have to do with anchoring?

When I shot the Diamond Black Ice I didn't need one, and it didn't even occur to me that there wasn't one on the bow till I hung it back up. My bow would have jumped right out of my hand.
