Yes, it simply lines up your shot easily, although some guys can do it consistantly without one. Mine is large and engulfs the intire sight ring. My vision at distances isn't very good.

Thank you all for the suggestions and insight.

Rhody---yes I am closing one eye. I have practiced with both eyes open and really have no problem shooting with both eyes open.

I just hated always worrying about the peep creeping, and the small sight window it gave me...I like to be loose and comfortable. The one thing the peep did for me was to provide another anchor point. With an old bow, I could shoot out past 40 yards with no problem, accurately. Now with a better bow, and no peep, my consistent groups have shortened almost ten yards because I am not using a peep, that I am sure of....the peep helped me align my shots for consistency.

I will look into the Meta peep and the String Splitter.....

I just do not want to work hard in the woods to only get a 35 yard shot....then not be able to take it because of accuracy issues due to not having a peep......for that reason alone I will be putting a peep sight back on this year.

seems that it would be hard to shoot with out one.

Hick---inside 25 yards, it is not hard for me at all--outside 30 yards, it becomes increasingly more difficult for me.

I wrap some dental floss around my string, to create a little bump,in place of a peep!! Then I put a dab of white-out on it to make it more visible in low light conditions!!!!

With the sizes of peeps available now there is no worries about seeing through them like it used to be. I stock the Meta peeps in all hunting sizes: 3/16", 1/4", & 5/16" Now that 5/16" is one Big puppy.

When I get to be his age I might use a peep:D I started with out one in archery and i am glad I did. If you have a solid consistant anchor it's not that bad.
