Getting my boys started. Both are avid deer hunters now. The one on the left is 22 now and is a Marine in Fallujah.
The one on the right is 25 and is a deer huntin' fool. His buddy is another Marine (probably the reason my younger boy joined.) who he got started hunting four years ago. Between the two of them they got seven deer this year, more than making up for the deer my youngest did not get because he is deployed.
I also got a nephew started when he was about 13. He is a Marine too just back in NC after a deployment with a MEU. (Marine Expeditionary Unit) His father has MS so if it wsn't me, who would have taken him hunting and fishing?
I got a buddy into fishing too when I was a kid. Anyway this is my greatest outdoor achievement.

I have multiple critters in the Pope & Young record book, but my biggest accomplishment is still to come. It will be seeing my girlfriend (hopefully wife) take her first big game via bow. I tried my best but all 3 sons from my first marriage failed to follow my urges to enjoy the outdoors. They are all near grown now, & brainwashing first wife gratefully gone. Now I get my chance to do things right, and so far they have exceeded my expectations. I found an unreal gal who loves to share and learn. It's gone well beyond how goodI thought life should be.Looking forward to the beam in her eyes I never got to share with my ex or sons. It's nice to have something like that to anticipate.
We are going to New Mexico for her first elk hunt in September, then I'll be putting her in my best slammer deerstands in October/November. Hercurrent top goal is to hike/hunt in the Rockies. Iheard her tell a friend this.

My biggest hunting accomplishment (as of today)would have to be arrowing my 2006 Buck. Mainly because my wife and I spent a lot of time scouting and patterning this buck before season opened... it was our target buck. Besides having a history with the buck, my wife was also wife me in the treestand when I arrowed the buck, which was a rewarding experience that we were both able to have together. Plus, it's my biggest buck ever, grossing 191 7/8, and also my 1st buck to arrow on video. We were both flying high, and having Casi there with me made everything just that much better.

That's STILL one of my all time favorite pictures ever posted on HNI.

I know you do not want to hear this. But my greatest hunt ended with me bagging my wife. I way outkicked my coverage on this one. She is a great cook, a great friend, A great looker and she lets me spend what I want to on hunting gear.
