Default Diet... Does it effect your bow hunting?

OhioRedNeck started the thread regarding workouts (good thread BTW)... IMO, your diet is just as important if not more important than the actual workouts. Or in order to get the most out of your workout, your diet needs to be right. To me the same sort of applies during hunting season.

I'll speak for me personally and see how you all feel about it. As those of us that ate at the fine dining establishment is Something Prairie, IL... I HAVE to eat fresh vegetables on a daily basis, if not I get the shakes and don't feel right. When I get really busy at work, my eating habits slide because I don't ever feel I have the time to prepare actual meals. When this happens I get tired easily and slothlike... sometimes my brain doesn't function well either (please no comments about how my brain ususally functions).

Anyway, where I'm going with this is that during hunting season life gets more fast pace for a lot of us, so do you feel how "sharp" you are on stand has anything to do with your diet? Do you eating habits change during bow season for the worse or for better? Just curious...

Good Post Dubbya! I would actally have to say that I probably eat a lot worse during the season, because we camp at the place we hunt and usually we do something quick and easy. But we also do a lot of venison, which is pretty healthy for you, but with that usually comes somekind of potatoes, which arent too bad. We are meat and potatoes kinds of guys at our camp...lol For morning hunts I rarely eat anything, but I do pack along a granola bar or two to eat on stand. I think this is why I fall asleep alot on the stand. Then we come in around 11 and have a sandwich then go back out around 2-3 depending on what time of year it is. Andy by then i have most of my energy back up. I also find myself eating alot of fast food after a long day of hunting because I dont feel like making something. That about sums my eating habits up for the season. I eat a lot healtier now cuz I am with my girlfriend more and she makes me.[8D]

Hey as long as it's DIET pepsi and Camel LIGHTS... you should be okay. That's why I use Copenhagen Long cut as opposed to Fine Cut

I would say I eat way worse during the season. In the off-season I have time to go to the gym and prepare meals. However, during the season I find myself stopping at a fast food joint on the drive to camp and then again on way home after the weekend.

I loose 20 pounds or more during the entire deer season, from mid Sept - 1st week of Jan. I mostly eat once a day, 1 good meal in the evening!

I can't say I've ever changed the food I was eating, because of hunting season. I do drink less coffee in the morning, so I don't have to go to the bathroom so quick.. if that counts!
