When Arrows Meet Diamond Plated Steel!

Another small HNI get together/shoot.

bowtechben, BPBowhunter, myself, my buddy Nate and his wife shot the indoor 3D shoot again this week. Each week the shoots gets more difficult as they are running leagues as well.

BPBowhunter, bowtechben and Brians daughter looking over the coarse.

Brian (BPBowhunter) before his shot at a Reinhart skunk,

Brian after his shot on the skunk. ;) [8D]

But he and Ben came back with a bedded buck.

One of the spining targets:

Nate and Renee, I won't mention she whipped two of these guys. ;) :D [8D]

bowtechben shooting at the final target, a 29 yard spinning skunk!

And the SOB skunk! The sound of foam is always a good sound on this target. Notice, there are only 3 arrows in the target and 5 shooters. ;) [8D]

And now what the thread title is for: :D [8D]

After the 32 targets Nate was up 1 on me. Target 33 is/was a option only target. It was 1/4" diamond plated steel target with an upside down V cut into it. IF you shot it, you had the possibility of adding points to your score. From 10, 8, or 5. Since I was one down on Nate I was obligated to go for it! IT was shot at 30 Yards!

I was up first, I thought, what the hell, it was all or nothing so I went for the 10. At the shot I heard arrow meeting steel and everyone had their binos up and hooted and yelled you got it, a ten! What happened was my arrow nicked the very edge of the steel plate and richocet'd into and stuck in the scoring area!

Nate said you SOB, now I(he) has to shoot it too...LMAO, so I was up 9. Nate had to go for the 10 or he lost and we put up another $5 on the outcome of the day from the first target...LOL

At the shot, his arrow hit the steel plate and exploded. I was watching through my binos and said "Nate, your arrow did the same thing mine did, it hit the edge, richocet'd in but didn't stick...LOL

Okay, guys are guys, and Ben was one up on Brian so Brian went for it. His arrow fell just out of the 8 ring and nailed a 5 so that put him up 4 on Ben. Now Ben who didn't want to shoot it had too...guys will be guys and he went for it. Slam! Carbon arrow meets steel...bye bye arrow.

Renee wasn't going to be outdone by the guys no how so she shoots a perfect arrow onto the 10 ring line and scores a solid 10 the right way! ! ! !! We were all yoopin it up and laughing. A great time, a great time.

Here's the steel plate with our arrows!

Pulling our arrows we actually found Nates insert and point in the scoring area but the arrow bouced out. We score Nate with the 10 since his point was in the scoring area so it counted, for us it certainly did so I paid Nate the $5 for winning 1 up. ! ! LMAO.

Anyway, obviously my arrow (ACC shown the highest in the picture) was slightly bent.....of course I had to do it again!

So at 30 yards with bent arrow I shot it again..CRACK! ! ! !LMAO ! ! !

What a beautiful flower!

Great day again. Didn't shoot nearly as well as I did last week and I will be the first to admit that I was one of the guys that Nate's wife Renee whooped me. She is a great archer. I donated an arrow before our round to the diamond plate monster so the second one hurt even more. (thanks for that Brian, just had to make me try for it.:D) All broken arrows aside, I will be back for more pain whenever. Had a great time guys thanks for a fun afternoon.

PS Rob, my bud mike was itching to know what happened and was already asking if we were going next week[8D]. And thanks for lunch again bro.

It looks like a lot of fun and an oppurtunity to meet some great people who share the same interests. Should I hesitate to do it because of my lack of experience? I don't want to be embarrased by my skills or lack there of.....

Very cool, this is my second year now getting into the sport and I'm liking it so I think I might do it because I want to get better at it. I guess it's just like joining a soft ball league for the first time right?

You bet a great day was had by everyone, and yes like Ben I'm man enough to admit Renee kicked my butt. She put that arrow in the 10 slot like it was nothing, great archer indeed. Sorry Ben for costing you that arrow, but you know what they say, boys will be boys. [8D]I too did not shoot as well as I did last week, but I had a blast today, and my 9 year old daughter "Katie"who helped us keep scoreis ready to go again. My work schedule will keep me from attending the next two weeks, but I will be ready to go after that.

Thanks again for a great day.

Brian

That sure is pretty you going to put that in a pot? So you lost a 15.00 arrow on a 5.00 bet . Sounds like you all had a good time, thanks for sharing the pics with us.
