What's your favorite animal to hunt?
 

I know that the majority of us spend our time chasing whitetails, but after my elk hunt last september... I'd trade 10 days of elk hunting for my whole whitetail season. Anyway, I'm just wondering how many people have a passion for animals other than whitetails.

I'm with you there but I am only able to hunt elk a very short period of time every year. I still enjoy chasing big whitetails and a gobbler in the spring.

I have hunted Whitetails much more than anything else, so to me a change of pace is a Blast. I have been fortunate to enjoy Bowhunting for Elk, Bear, Antelope, Turkey, and Mule Deer as well. Like I said I just prefer the change of pace. Last years Dec. trip to NE hunting Mule Deer in 10" of snow and zero temps has got to rank up thereas one of my all time Fun hunts!!

I choose bear hunting. I do all of my own baiting and stuff and thats half the hunt and the fun right there along with the bear hunting. Elk hunting is right in there too, thats one addictive animal once you start hunting them. They are probably the biggest challenge to me bow hunting, right in there anyway.

Fish are my favorite quarry.

When it comes to bigfurry critters, I've only hunted hogs, bearsand whitetails.My experiencebear hunting doesn't really count since it was thesix most boring 'hunting' daysin my life.[>:]

Somebody take me moose/elk/caribou/mulie hunting and then I can be a better judge of those critters. :D

My least favorite so far has been Antelope, but I am sure it depends on where you are sitting. I hunted North of Douglas, WY. in the early nineties and sitting in a Blind from before daylight until dark in 60 mph winds and 90+ degree tempswas mentally taxing. By the 3rd day I was ready to sit in the corner and start blowing bubbles, but I hung in there and got my Antelope.
Whew!! was I glad to spend a day walking around camp and Bullcrapping;)

Im eat up with turkey hunting. By far my favorite, but keep in my mind i havent made it out west......yet.

the fact that I love turkey hunting might have something to do with the fact that the last time we went turkey hunting together....my turkey was BIGGER than YOURS....Duuuuuuuuuubbya! :)

Ruffed Grouse!
They don't call them the ThunderBird for nothing. Lots of action and they are quite tasty.
A very close 2nd for archery deer hunting!

Whitetails but pheasants are a very close second.

You know though, there is something special about sitting underneath an oak tree, 50 degree October afternoon, calm breeze, sun beating down on you, driftin in and out of a nap, holding a .22 hoping to bag a few bushy tails. Its not intense, its not heart pounding, its just a great way to spend a relaxing afternoon.

I love my whitetails BUT elk stole my heart and there is nothing like it.

Eventually I'd like to try bear, hogs & antelope as well.

I chose turkeys. Even though i haven't hunted them with a bow. It's just awsome to here them gobble, spit and drum, and see them strut. I like to hunt deer but turkeys are my favorite.

When the turkeys are cooperating there is noting better than turkey hunting. It's really close between turkey hunting and deer hunting. I really want to go on an elk hunt someday. It looks like a blast, but I dont have the funds for it yet.

Well here in Kentucky the only animals we have opportunities to hunt are Whitetails and turkey. If you are lucky you might get drawn for an elk tag, but I doubt with my luck I will get one.

But I defnitely like whitetail hunting the best.

For where I live I have to pick whitetails.

Now if I lived somewhere else, my choice may be different.

Split tails... I mean whitetails. What, nobody hunts frogs anymore? Come summer time the canoe will be in every horseshoe pond along the creek while I throw arrows at JUMBO bullfrogs.:) You don't even have to wear camo. LOL

Although I like whitetail hunting , I really get a charge out of turkey hunting and I only tried bear hunting once but wouldn't mind doing that again.

I love frog gigging. This year ill use to bowfishing bow instead, that way i cant loose an arrow. lol

Five years ago I would have said whitetail.One time bow hunting in Illinois ,I stuck a coyote. When I foundout you could make them come to you by calling I was hooked on coyote hunting.

I guess I take it for granted that I live in the west and can hunt most big game species here.

I've got whitetail, mulies, elk, moose, bear, cougar, sheep, and goats. Throw turkeys and coyotes as well as a bunch of other small game and I've really got it made.

Its difficult to pinpoint which animal I like hunting best, as I just love being in the woods with my bow.

I suppose turkeys would be my choice, as that was my first real passion when it came to hunting. Everything else comes in a close second.

I like the high mountain game like Bighorn sheep, mt goats, and elk. Predators are cool too! I'd like to take on a griz and brown bear.
