Whats wrong with this deer?
 

I got a pic of this doe on my trail cam when i checked it today. I dont know what happened to her almost looks like she may have been attacked or something. Shes real skinny in other pics i have you can see her hips,spine,and ribs sticking out. Any ideas as to what may have caused something like this?

It could be a form of mange or fleas.The hair does not seem to be matted usually a sign of CWD.This deer needs to betaken out of the herdin my opinion.Have you seen any more like this??.

Cars can pack a wollop on a deer. Looks to me like shes been clipped by an auto.

Possibly looks like a bullet/arrow entered the top of her shoulder and traveled just under the skin exiting right behind the shoulder. Most likely she is sick because of infection no matter how she got the wound and will die eventually. She doesnt look like she is in deadly shape yet but she will most likely end up there but ya never know. This mayisnt legal but if I see a sick deer like that and know its gonna die I'd shoot it and leave it. I may get bashed for sayin that but when i can put an animal out of its missery rather than let it die a slow death I'll do it. Only humain thing to do for them. WCL

Doesn't look like mange to me. (I've seen and handled mangy critters)

Looks like a injury. Rolled by a vehicle, tangle in a fence, mauled by bigfoot... etc.. There's a nearly endless number of ways she could have been injured.

thanks for the ideas guys. Its kinda hard to say because it has marks down across its back like that also it almost reminded me of claw marks.A barbed wire fence does seems the most logical though. I dont believe its a arrow wound or anything of that sorts because it looks fairly fresh all kinds of deer hunting have been over for a month. Also having more than 1 wound kind of rules that out i think.

possible cougar, large bobcat, or even wolves. There are so many things that could have possibly done it to give a correct diagnoses. good one to take out of the herd tho.

that deer looks injured to me. i would guess a coyote or dog. I've seen them on deer before and that's usually where they jump on them to get the back and neck area. just my op.

A big cat got after her in my opinion Check out this pic. I changed the brightness and look high on her back midway back. Looks like claw or bite marks to me

It's hard to tell, but it looks like an impact wound to me... possibly a vehicle or something else.

She looks mangy to me, a sick one like that needs to be taken out, she could infect the rest of the herd. You could let the DNR people know about her and see they might want to study why she is like that to make sure there are no new deaseas in the area. I would just put her out of her misery.

I'm guessing shot from above and it just skinned along under the skin after tearing up some back muscle. Second vote would be a whack by a car and skidding across the asphalt to take off some hide.

Thanks for the feedback. Im gona keep the camera out for awhile yet keep a eye on her and see if she sticks around and if her condition changes.

Heres a view of her from the other side only noticble markings are on the back. You can really get a idea as to what kind of condition she is in though.

Or Atacked by a couple of eight pound meat eating squirrels. Poor thing take her out.

This is my thought as well, then the animal will loose some hair and weight from infection, and end up looking like she does. Suppose someone hit her with a BIG mechanical BH, that would lay here side open like that, and then she'd take a little time to heal. She certainly may also be weakened enough to feed some "dogs" in your area as well.

Run the photo by the local DNR rep... might be open to culling her out for the herd's sake.

What the hell is that that i circled in the green?? and is the thing i circled in pink what your talking about for whatever reason my computer makes all images darker than they should be so most trail cam pictures i cant see anything in them.
