Yeah, it IS actually beautiful... until you drive through town and it literally looks like an F4 tornado came through.

And nope, Don... no ice in Florida. Amazing the temp difference from one part of the country to the next. When we were flying over home about to land in St. Louis, I was snapping some pics with my Treo phone out the window looking down at all the ice.

That's what's really amazing... I've seen ice on trees before, obviously, but with all that "white" on the ground you see -- NONE of it is snow; that's ALL ice.

Good to hear you made it through relatively unscathed Greg. Here's hoping that those that weren't so lucky can bounce back quickly.

It looks pretty, but really does a job on the power lines.
I know cause I am out in it putting them back up!!! Couple years back we had some bad ice in the Poconos that had people out for 7 to 10 days.
Hope you get your power back soon.

well greg you survieived the first par. Last year we had an ice storm just as bad rip through our part of illinois and man the wind made a mess once everything looked exactly like your pictures. When the tree fell on our line we were with out power for 14 days. thank GOD for a wood stove. But becareful this spring when you git your first real nasty storm with high winds because now you will have lots of weak trees that are gunna fall all apart.

Dang Greg, can you imagine if the wind picked up with all that ice hanging, it could get dangerous out there.

Exactly Dan... They were actually calling for high winds the very next day and it had everyone scared to death; fortunately they didn't come.
