If you've ever had tennis elbow.....

I got my thumb trigger release about a month beofre I sold my Allegiance. I noticed my elbow giving me some pain about the time I was getting used to the thumb trigger release. After I sold the Ally....the 82nd is a harsher draw.....and it's played hell on my elbow (and shoulder to a small extent). In all honesty....I've also shot more than I ever have in the last two months, though....and some can be attributed to that.
I've ordered 50-60# limbs for the 82nd.....and I'm hoping that helps out. I can shoot it at 52#'s and still have to play with the arrows I'm shooting to dumb it down for legal shoots.
Chris (MOHO) mentioned something in another thread about FOC that got me wondering. If the arrows I'm shooting are overspined.....could "I" be absorbing a lot of energy from the bow? It's honestly hurting so bad, now....I don't feel like I can practice without injury.
Opinions? Take 2 weeks off...then quit?
Will the lower #-age limbs help? Heavier arrows? I'm at the "brink" of what my arrows can be as far as gpp, right now.....on the low end. Would shooting a lower poundage bow and heavier arrows help?
Thanks, guys.

If it is sore, it is trying to tell you something. Take a little time off.
My elbow and shoulder get sore from heavy weightlifting but I just deal with it. Do as I say and not as I do.

Bob I haven't shot my longbow in a couple weeks......for that reason. This all started when I switched releases......then was compounded (no pun intended) when I went from the ally to the 82nd. I've had rotator cuff surgery (and tennis elbow...lol) and this is def. of the tennis elbow variety right now. Shoudler is mildly affected. Elbow hurts like hell.
The difference in the draw (between releases) .....well...it's just hard to explain. It's just "different". Maybe I'm using too much arm and not enough back. Don't know.
Besides that, though.....will a lower #-age bow and a heavier arrow help absorb the energy the bow's producing?

I have been having a similar problem. I started shooting a lot andgoing to some of these 3D shoots. My elbow and forearm are causing me some pain, so I stopped about a week ago and I am giving it another week or two. I really am not sure if it is the bow shooting or the work I have been doing at the shop. Iwant to shoot but I'll be waiting it out so things don't get worse. Sucks getting old.[:@]
To answer you question: I don't think different arrows will help you GMMAT

I'm wondering if the problem may have started with the longbow and is just getting agitated and worsened by the compound. I'm not sure how the draw cycle would come into play.
Yes though a heavy arrow will absorb more of the energy from the bow then a light one.
In any case tough, personally, if it were me (and it has been) I would giving ita good rest. Do some tennis elbow exercises, ice it, and take some ibuprofen.

In all honesty, you've had nothing but issues since you got that 82nd.

GMMAt ever see those for lack of a better term "braces" that goes on your forearm for tennnis elbow. I know a few golfers that swear by them. I'll see if I can find a pic.

Been there, and it sucked! I took time off and went back to shooting, not enough time off! I went to the Doctor! I was out of commission for a few months! This was thru the summer and into late summer, I was worried I wouldn't be ready for hunting season, the long break did wonders for me, I got better. Be careful!

Got nothing to do with the bow MN.....I ordered the wrong one for my purposes. The bow is awesome.
I'm gonna order some heavier arrows....and rest it a bit. I've got the anti-inflammatories on the way!
Thanks guys.....I will shoot this weekend (20 targets...and I need to shoot this one....a qualifier)....but that'll be it for at least another total week off. I'm also done, now with my vegas shooting....and that's 45 less arrows a week I'll be shooting. I was honestly shooting close to 300 arrows a week or more there for a while....after NEVER doing anything like that before. Sounds like I just overdid it.
