The biggest majority of the animals I have killed with Aluminum arrows were killed with X-7's Sorry I didn't know they were too brittle;)

I still have some X-7's fletched with feathers. They might go Turkey hunting this Spring:D

Yer a sarcastic feller aren't ya?? I didn't know they were either, but then again, I didn't know they weren't......I'm just saying that's what I understood...

There not brittle, someone's pulling your leg (Carbon Nut). I'm not knocking down carbons but my family's been shooting XX75's forever and ever. They've been used on moose, elk, bear, muley's, whitetails, caribou, you name it. I'm big on durable arrows and if they weren't durable I wouldn't be shooting them now.

RE: Best ALL aluminum arrow.....

I just never heard it:DThey have a tensile strength of 105,000 psi same alloy as the Super Slam 7178-T9 I guess if brittle means they will more than likely break before they bend then that might be true. I always thought the Black was Kewl:D

My X-7 2114's are pretty tough I can testify to that.;)

mobow wasn't trying to be sarcastic, just never heard that. I just wondered why?? Unless it is because they have a higher tensile strength. Personally I would just as soon my Aluminum arrows break as bend.

Yes,that is exactly what it means,I have HEARD there is a quenching process that makes them brittle but locks them in on the straightness.I would prefer to have a little give in an arrow I would slam through deer but that is just me,much easier to straighten a bent arrow than fix a broken one.:D

I have several X7's here that are cracked and I have never seen a cracked 78 so I believe there is truth to it.

Here are a couple I TRIED for 3-d,they didn't like the abuse.

Not saying they won't work for hunting,I just feel the 78's are a better choice.

I hunted with X-7's before they made the 78's. For one reason they were the best spec wise Aluminum out there. I hunt primarily with carbons, ACC's, or FMJ's now but still do have some X-7's around. I have no idea how many animals I've dropped with X-7's but over 30 I am sure. Most were in the dirt after going through the animal. I am sure if one stayed in a Deer and he crashed it into a tree as he ran it would break, but then so would most other arrows. I think Easton made the XX78'sspec wise very close tothe X-7 and added Camo to catch the Bowhunters eye. They are even closer in specs this year than ever. I think most of the 78's I have seen fail Broke instead of bent also. That's the way I would prefer it. Both are undoubtedly top of the line Aluminum arrows.

To me crashing arrows together in 3D is more abuse on arrows than hunting;)

Yes,I agree that 3-d is harder on arrows than hunting, atleast for the most part.I also agree they are both top of the line. You just need to treat the X7's like they are carbons and check for cracks,I have a couple that I couldn't get a clear picture of the cracks because they were so small. That CAN be dangerous.

I also usually use ACC's but I am going to be shooting some aluminums if I get to hunt turkeys this year.I would rather lose an aluminum in the grass than an ACC for some reason.[:-]
