Go with the speed mods. I recently changed back to them for 3d and am going to leave them in there. Smooth steady pull just a tad more stacked in the front is all.

No they were joking about Jeff's complaining of being "too fast" for 3-D shoots.LOL

You guys are making me wish i had ordered the speed mods. Anybody got a set of #4 they would trade for the smooth?

Assume you are going to shoot a 350 grain arrow. Assume you are going to shoot 70 pounds of draw weight. You have a 27.5" draw length. Assume that your bow will reach top speeds of 335 fps IBO, most seem to fall right in the middle of the speed ratings. Add in the loop, string silencers and a peep........ we will assume these are the lightest weight available IE: meta peep, shortest loop possible, only two leeches.

You loose aproximately 10 fps per inch of draw length lost so you are starting out at 310 fps right out of the gate, again assuming you have a fast bow to begin with. Add in the string stuff and you will loose another 10 - 12 fps. You will be real lucky if you hit 300 fps at 70 pounds draw weight.

I would still use the speed mods butI would not expect to get 300 from your specific set up unless you upped the draw weight or lost some arrow weight.

well its better to go 65lbs. at 325 "speed wise" but with all the string deductions i wont make it with smooth mods, speed mods-accordiing to that calc. i was using i will.

Heres how it went, this is all apx.

IBO Speed- 335
Arrow weight-325
Draw length- 27.5
Draw weight- 65
weight added to strings - 20grn (?)

Apx fps = 309

Thats pushing all limits, but so close.

I would consider getting rid of the string silencers if you have them and get an STS if you don't already have one. Shoot feathers too.

65 pounds will shoot a 325 grain arrow slightly slower than 70 pounds will shoot a 350 grain arrow. Not much but there will be a slight reduction in speed per grain of arrow weight.
