How many actually pick a spot?

I was just wondering how many archers actually pick a spot on the deer when they shoot. I have to admit that I don't. I know where I want to hit and put my pin here and touch the trigger. ButI can't say that I study the deer and pick a tuft of hair to shoot at.

I hear it a lot, too....but I'm sure I don't do it.

I settle my pin....squint.....open both eyes (to make sure I'm centering the pin housing in the peep)....and expect my arrow to hit behind my pin.

I aim behind the shoulder and expect the arrow to hit there

I have shot many deer without "picking a spot" but when I do, the arrow always goes to that spot. It's simply a matter of taking your shooting form and concentration to the highest level.

Training yourself to always pick a spot will improve your accuracy and we owe our game that comitment.

If I don't pick a spot, I don't hit the target! No choice!:D

For the newER guys out there.....that spot "behind the shoulder" is misleading (IMO). The angle of the archerto the deer (both vertically and horizontally....in the case of a quartering shot) should dictate arrow path......and the path of the arrow through the vitals should dictate entrance point in EVERY scenario.

Simply stating that we aim "behind the shoulder" can be VERY misleading to the novice archer who hasn't taken into account a deer's anatomy.

Just my .04......(.02 and .02, amended);)

What the sam hill do you think that PIN is? That IS your spot. You just gotta make sure your spot is in the right spot before you release.
