Another loop question
I had a second d-loop tied on my string today. Problem is....it's the same cord/material. No matter how tight we try to cinch it....we can't get it tight enough to snug up and not spin (even if just a smidge).
If we have the up/down travel to where it can't go in either direction......should it matter if it will turn on the string? I don't like it worth a damn......but it is what it is until I can get another one tied. Also....might it cinch down tighter as I shoot it? Thanks. |
RE: Another loop question
I wouldn't want it to be able to rotate freely ( I believe that is what you are saying). As mine is, snug and tight, when I go to attach my release I knowthe loopwill be extended behind the nock. That would be important to me in a hunting situation, not "searching" for the loop.
Perhaps you can try a different material. Have you tried putting needle nose pliers in the loop and openeing them to tighten the loop down? |
RE: Another loop question
Yeah we tightened the heck out of it with pliers and a tool designed just for such. It just isn't going to tighten up like I want it to. I'll end up with another one, soon, I know. My previous loops have never had this issue. I hate it.
I don't care where it is......as long as it lines up with my peep.....but this way that's a moot point. |
RE: Another loop question
Sounds like it is the loop material to me.

RE: Another loop question
Why would they even MAKE loop material out of this stuff? It's the same stuff Greg/MO has in his "how to" thread (I think....at least it looks like it).
It's camo loop material....and it sucks. |
RE: Another loop question
FWIW, I had the local shops tie me a string loop three different times in the past 4 weeks, each time I wasn't satisfied, so finally I did it myself, followed Greg/MO's thread EXACTLY and now I'm satisfied, no problems at all. I actually liked the loop material he recommended better than what the shops used.

RE: Another loop question
Jeff,
I use the pre cut loop material sold by Allen. It's great stuff, very thick and will hold it's form, plus it will cinch up like nobody's business!:) You can find it at most pro shops and big box retailers as well. ![]() |

I don't know if you guys are talking about the Allen string loops when you're talking about the "camo" loops or not. I can tell you for sure....without a doubt, this stuff is the real deal. No stretch, very sturdy material and will cinch up tighter than aPython on a Guinea pig.:D |

RE: Another loop question
I think the serving on my 82nd is just really slick. This is the 3rd loop I've had tied on....by the third different guy. It's still loose. I don't get it.
OK, buckeye....what are the ways to tighten it? We've pulled it with a screwdriver shaft.....after pinching the knots together (snugging them up) with pliers. We've also used the Viper tool....and I've got about 30-40 shots through it. I'm at a loss. |
