You won't believe this
From an Email I got
You will not believe the story on this one, I didn't either until Isaw the pics. This kid was coming from the woods after hunting the morning on his Grandpas farm. I believe Jennings Co. Indiana. As hewas walking back to the house he sees this Monster buck fighting with a concrete statue. He walks up to it and shoots but hits it in theleg, the deer runs about 50 yds away and stops. I guess he decidedthat he was goingto go back and whip this concrete deers butt. He turns around andtakesa dead run at the statue crashing in to it, the deer knocks himselfoutand the statue falls on his head pinning him down. The kid knocksanother arrow and shoots the deer, in the picture it looks like twice. Anyway as you can see by the pics he killed the deer and supposedlythisdeer green scored around 230". If that is correct and they allow itasabow kill this will be the new state record for archery. The currentrecord in P & Y is 221. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I fricton quit[&:] |

RE: You won't believe this
I tell ya......
These patriarchs of the forest are truly wiley. It's a miracle we ever kill one of these giant mature deer. |
RE: You won't believe this
wow...hopefully that concrete didn't break any of his points off. Great buck and very interesting story...
|
RE: You won't believe this
A concreat structure and the deer didn't even break a tine? One mean deer:D.
|
RE: You won't believe this
surely an awesome deer

RE: You won't believe this
I guess the kid gets credit for the kill, but does the statue at least get points for the takedown? Great story.
|
RE: You won't believe this
I believe it was a park deer;) This reminds me of the far side comic.....Sign over the door reads "Acme school for the intelligently gifted". Kid's leaning against the door.....and the sign reads "pull". We de-scent.....watch our entry/exit routes......hunt the wind....practice our form/execution......freeze our asses off......spend thousands of dollars......do research.......and this animal we think is so intelligent damn near commits suicide on a concrete statue. |
RE: You won't believe this
Well look at some things we have done in the past:D
I am sure some dude killed himself somewhere doing something to a statue[8D] |
RE: You won't believe this
Am I seeing things or did his arrows only get about 3 inches of penetration? Was he using a Nerf bow?[&:]

RE: You won't believe this
There's a dot there Gary. I'd be buying sacks of concrete and taking sculpture courses...LOL, awesome story. Thanks for sharing.
|
RE: You won't believe this
very cool (if true)
|
RE: You won't believe this
Yeah, i posted this a while back... i too got it in an email so i dont know how much truth there is to it, but man what a buck
|
RE: You won't believe this
Awesome deer obviously! I don't know that I would feel particularly good about the sequence of events that led to killing it,I am not faulting the guy who shot it.
Where do I place my order for a dumb as a rock Boone and Crockett buck? That bucks number was up on the day he was taken. |
RE: You won't believe this
thats pretty lucky
|
RE: You won't believe this
What an absolute giant of a buck, doesn't take a great hunter to get him but man what a giant
|
RE: You won't believe this
Yep i remember seeing that, I just hate to see a new State record being got that way. Hell of an Indiana buck.
|
RE: You won't believe this
Wouldn't that be disqualified from the record books since one of the definitions of fair chase is that the animal is not trapped in any way, including on ice, etc, etc.?
Pretty amazing. I wonder what story the kid will tell everyone when he is older? How he crept up on this unsuspecting monster... |
RE: You won't believe this

RE: You won't believe this
That is the funiest and luckiest story I have ever heard......... That would be so weird if that happened. That's like pissing in the wind, it just dont make sense!!! Lucky terd...............

RE: You won't believe this
The angle of the 2 shots and the blood at the bottom of the deer don't line up?

RE: You won't believe this
That makes a little more sense then.
Sometimes reality is stranger than fiction. Seriously, unless you are quicksilver and are bored at work and delirious from studying, you couldn't make up a story that bizzare[8D] |
RE: You won't believe this
Rybo.....if you'd seen my '07 buck before I pulled the arrows out of him (3).....you'd have conjured up one HELLUVA story in your head!:D

One time while my dad and I were out hunting, my mom let their dogs out and a MONSTER buck walked within 60 yards of her while she was out with the dogs... Go figure that out. Weird stuff happens. My dad and I saw nothing that morning:eek: |
RE: You won't believe this
I'll give the same opinion I gave the last two times these pics were posted here.Mytake may be hit or miss here or there, but overallhere's how the deal looks to me after listening to the theories, seeing the pics, and using good old fashion logic:
There are many reports of deer trying to gore, fight,or attempt to breedstatues of deer.If this buck in questionhad tried to 'scoop'theconcrete 'decoy'from the side as they usually do when attacking or positioning a doe for breeding, he may have gotten his antlers under the deer and become locked as shown. After getting stuck under the concetedeerit appears hehad been struggling for a while as evident by the bare dirt surrounding the deer in the photos. Anyway, he's trapped andsomeone, most likelythe homeowner or close neighbor, found this buck in a bad situatuton or near deathand called up the "hero" of the story, who comes over and shoots it a point blankrange. At what degree of "alive" it was when he took his shot, if he actually took a shot,is debatable. He sticks another arrow in it to back up aBS story and make it seem like this was an honorable kill to impress the masses. The arrows didn't penetrate very far because they hit the dirt after passing through the buck as he layed on his side. Neither one looks like a definate kill shot either way. Or, it's entirely possible one or both arrowsmay havebeen stuck in by hand. Version two would be he saw this buck drinking from his birdbath, or trying to interact with the doe statue and he shot it right from his back door and comes up with some crazy plot to justify his kill. Asthe "hunter"begins to get local praise and pats on the back, his ego overtakes his logic and he begins posting pictures of his conquest which erase all doubts as to the authenticity of his tale, asthe storybecomesobviously bogus from front to back. Call me skeptical. I call 'em howI see 'em. I might be right, I might be wrong. All I know is either version of my"story" is 100% more likely and believablethan thescript that usuallyaccompanythese pics. Very respectablebuck. Not sure about the "hunter".;) |
RE: You won't believe this
i have a hard time beleiving the concrete statue of that size pinned down a deer of that magnitude, are you telling me that a 200+ deer cant get out from under a 75 lbs statue? Great if it really happened. And there is no way i would ever get that lucky.
