Making room in the stables for the new horse
 

I know it's "just a bow".....but has anyone had trouble parting ways with one that's been a real workhorse......to make room for a new one?

I don't need her....but I sure hate to see her go!:D

No, I've had the same bow for 5 years now, same truck since 99, no hurry. A new bow would be nice though!

Shipping my Victory off to Rloving1 last week was pretty difficult. I killed my 1st archery deer with it as well as 1st buck & 1st Javalina. Its a great bow and I'll miss it. I considered keeping it but sentiment would be the only reason to do so and that just doesn't cut it.

Jeff, I know exactly what you mean. I recently traded in the bow that killed my buck this past fall, and it was a bit emotional actually. I really hated to see the ole girl go....BUT, that didn't take too terribly long to overcome....;)

Now I do, however, still have the bow I killed my first deer with. That one I will never part with, a ProLine Riptide. 41" ATA w/ recurve limbs. Sounds like a friggin shotgun goin off, but fast and hits like a hammer.

I killed 10 deer with that bow in less than a year....including both bucks on my wall (1 soon to be).....and won a 3D shoot with it.

It's just a piece of metal....but it's a damned good piece of metal.;)

Come Sunday....I may be bowless.

I know the feeling! I still have the recurve but I haven't picked up the new Marquis yet. I feel so naked!

I've always had trouble leaving a bow go. I honestly don't think I've ever had a bad bow. In the past when I shot for Hoyt's National Shooting staff like many of you here, turning over a new Hoyt every year was actually difficult. My bows have gone across the country and I often wonder where they went from there. Yeah, like said, pieces of metal but like many things, I put part of me in each setup. I know some of my bows went to Michigan, Wisconson, NJ, a couple stayed locally. There was never an issue of getting one to go, just letting her go.

I know she's going to a good home, though.....lol. What the deer here don't know is......she'll still be lurking.;)

You guys wanna know what's tough.........the night I traded my bow in, a guy came in and bought it. I was literally stripping the stuff off of her, and it was sold. So, I set it up for the new owner, and handed it over. Very good guy, the guy that bought it. He'll take very, very good care of her and shoot her for probably 5 more years or better....but man........Set up my bow for somebody else and hand it over......ouch.
