Press investement
 

So, since I'm no longer working for Sportsmans, I figure I should probably invest in my own press here at home.

I've used Apple's press quite a bit as well as an electronic press we got a few months back.

I've heard people argue that Apple can damage bows if you're not careful, but I've also had people swear up and down that Apple is the way to go.

If you were in my shoes, what would you buy?

If you are going to press a lot of bows it may be wise to invest in an Apple or something similar. If you are just doing your own and maybe a friends here and there, thenone of the many "ratchet strap" presses that are out there should work just fine. It would also be much cheaper.

They make the electronic press I mentioned, Greg.

Money... I'm sure I could talk my dad into going in half on one if it were really expensive, as he generally has me do all of the work on his bow...

How much are we talking?

Depends on which model you get. They make 4, as I recall. Well, 2 basic styles, and each either electric or manual.

The most basic is like you see there, and the other will rotate up 90* so you can level your arrow and such w/out removing the bow from the press.....

Man, I can't remember...gimme a minute....

Somewhere in the 350-400 range for the basic I think.......Dude, don't quote me on that though....I don't remember for sure.

i still havent really found a need to buy a press bigger than the one WWAG makes. I back out the limb bolts on my general, and can press it. I could press my liberty with it, and I can press the non parallel limb bows with it. Plus, i can EASILY throw it in the truck and take it on the road.

You can buy my Apple and I'll buy that one...LOL

Can't press the General in my Apple, can't press the 82nd in my Apple or most of the parallel limb bows. I have a Bowmender for them BUT, the Bowmendor won't press the General either.

I was recommended to the X Press but whew, expensive.

Greg / MO, that pressed you pictured there, press all the bows mentioned?
