What broadheads do you use?
 

Does anyone have a favorite broadhead that they use? If you are using a mechanical broadhead, have you experienced any problems with them?

i use those nitrons or w/e u wanna call them they have been good broadheads a realllyyy open up a deer!! my uncle on the other hand uses the rage broadheads, i never thought they were that good untill he shot a deer with em this yrand it left a hole u could stick three fingers in!!!!

I use the Eastman Outfitters mechanical Broadheads...they worked just fine and it did a complete passthru on a nice 6-Pint Buck I shot 2 years ago...now I'm using the HellRazor fixed broadheads from NAP (New Archery Products) because I've been bow hunting from a fixed ground blind next to a food plot.

I use the Magnus 3 blade snuffer.

I hunt more then deer with my bow& will not use a mech. broadhead for the likes of elk and moose. I have had excellent results for fixed head such as muzzy and thunderheads. However my preference for the past number of years is Cut on Contact BH's such as Montec, Magnus Stingers and Steel Force.

Spitfire 100 grain (mechanical).Have never had a problem with them.They put a nasty hole in the deer.

superstrutter, you're write about the spitfires. Wicked in & out holes. I also had one that did not pass through but he still didn't make it passed fifty yards. I switched to the scorpions this years butI did not get to test them. I have no doubt they're are just as nasty.Ken

Rage broadheads and know problems here unless your a deer. Those things are wicked for the time being I will not shoot another brand. If I ever do switch it will have to be better than the rage! Which I can't think of a way of improving on it. It could be along while.............................

Many of you are praising the rage. I have never used them because spitfires have never failed me. I have heard good things about the rage two blade, but have heard bad things about the three blade. For those who use the rage, do you use the two or three blade?

I switched from the thin bladed Satellites to the 125 Thunderhead about 25 years or so ago, still use them but have also killed deer with the Muzzy 125 and also the 125 Spitfire..
They all work if you hit them right.

Bull. I bought them ,came home and shot them at targets, I returned them the same day, they dont look very durable, I didnt like the way they opened up, had me wondering if they were opening on flight, they didnt fly great either, had a slight weave or spiral as they flew.

I have used mech and killed quite a few deer. I just had them fail one too many times.
I have had them fail to penetrate some times. Its like they absorb to much impact as they are opening up, talking about the kind that fold back on impact. I had the eastmans do this to me twice,I actually had one damn near bounce off a deer.
I use Muzzy 4 blades now. I dont care, you can argue till your blue in the face, fixed blades ARE BETTER. Years ago I had trouble getting fixed blades tofly true. Now days with these new bows and drop away rests, they're is literally no tuning, screw them on and they fly like field points.
I use muzzys because they are cheap in price and are very very good, are they're better ? Yes but at twice the price but you wont notice it on deer. You will only notice the better quality if you shoot plywood or metal drums.

Its not an opinion its a fact, shoot a expandable on the scapula of a deer and do it with a fixed, shoot a deer on a hard quartering with an expandable and do it with a fixed, shoot a target with an expandable and shoot it with a fixed, the fixed will out penetrate it everytime.

Grim reapers.... best mechanical head I have use. Yes, I have use Rage before making the switch. Ragemake big entrance hole but lacks penetration.Shot a doe at 15 yards, broadside and went in only 12". Yes, it did put the doe down less than 50 yards but I don't know what will happen if it hit bones. Don't get me wrong, Rage are a pretty good head butGrim reapers has giving me big holes, penatration and are built like a tank. Check out their videos on youtube. You'll be impress, I know I was, that's why I made the switch and has not look back.

I've had most of my success with slick tricks. They've never let me down.
They cut big holes, fly straight, are extremely durable, and very affordable.

lol i wouldn't even begin to know what to do with 30 broadheads.


I also shoot Muzzy. I think next year itll be either those MX-3s or 2 Blade rages.
