RE: Whiskerbiscuit...or dropaway?
I just received two Limb Drivers for my General and 82nd. I have a Trophy Taker Pronghorn on my Allegaince, on the others I have a Hostage and a Golden Premier 2 prong,
I'd seriously consider the new Hostage Pro coming out in the Octane Line by Bowtech long before I'd consider a WB. In fact, I'll never have a WB on any bow I ever own. That's just me. ;) |

Apparently the WB shoots as good as anything else [8D]
As for me, I'm shooting Limbdrivers, I love em'. Best and easiest drop away on the market. In my opinion. Most don't agree, because they say "the cable will get in the way." But, do your bow's cables get in the way? They are both in the same place. |

ORIGINAL: Rob/PA Bowyer Apparently the WB shoots as good as anything else:eek: I didn't mean to take a shot at you like that Rob. They just aren't for me. They are a good hunting rest, just take a look at how many people use them. Love them or hate them, they work. Why don't you like them Rob? |

Those are probably the 3 most popular, and are in my opinion better rests than the quicktunes. |
RE: Whiskerbiscuit...or dropaway?
I've never had a problem killing a deer with a WB..........neither have countless hunters out there.
It's the most popular and successful hunting rest in the world for a reason. |
RE: Whiskerbiscuit...or dropaway?
I was wondering when one of these would pop up.:D
I prefer the Whisker Biscuit for hunting purposes. I like all of the "pros" the rest has to offer. It's simple...simple to set up and simple in it's operation. It's sturdy and will never need any adjustment, nothing will stretch or wear out. (if you wear out the biscuit bristlesyou are a shooting machine!!) No moving parts to break. No mole skin needed...my bow is a "no mole skin zone".:D Arrow stays secure, no flopping around. It's quiet. If installed and set up correctly, It won't damage your vanes. This I think is the biggest complain about the rest, how it damages vanes. I've heard everything from it making small waves to ripping them off. When I first purchased mine (old all black bristle design) when they first came out,it made my vanes wavy. Nothing I could do would correct it. My bow still shot good so I lived with it. Then the new B2 biscuit was introduced. It's the one with the black and brown bristles. I put one of those on but still had some minor waving of the vanes. It wasmuch, much better but still some slight waves. I realized that I was using the wrong size opening and changed to a larger one. No one problem since....not one. No need to switch to blazers, feathers, nope just 4in el cheapo vanes. It's important to select the correct size opening for your arrows, if in doubt go one size larger. Make sure it's installed correctly and tune your bow for correct center shot, tiller, etc.. and you won't have a problem with vane damage. |

Consider this http://www.huntingnet.com/forum/tm.aspx?m=1687790
yet another serious shooter's opinion .... ORIGINAL: Matt / PA Believe it or not my preferred 3D rest right now is one that is used by many for hunting and seems to be looked down upon by the 3D crowd. Muzzy Zero Effect. I'll explain why I am using it. It is driven away without the use of spring tension, or even cords that can stretch (ala the Limb Driver). There are no internal springs, pins, linkages etc and no connection to the cables for activation, therefore it is extremely consistent shot to shot. The groups I am shooting with it out to 50 yards are as good as I can shoot. I had an honest 5 shot group the other day where all 5 arrows were TOUCHING in the x ring at 43yds like they were bundled with a rubber band. Even if it's just mental I DO believe or "Feel" that a consistent drop away rest is more forgiving to poorly executed shots. I've shot Bodoodles, and Spring steels etc and it definitely seemed like a bad shot was worse with the extended contact these rest made with the arrow. I am getting perfect arrow flight and zero contact with the fletching The launcher arm is rigid, and since I am not seeing any wear to the plastic yet even after hundreds and hundreds of shots the launch pt stays consitent. (I will keep an eye on this one because it ISN'T metal and can wear down a bit I'm sure over time) Here's one benefit I am appreciating as well, especially in the cold and wind. When i was using my $150 Golden Key Infinity drop way with the Dave Cousins .010 launcher , it FELT very "Targety" but I found myself messing up my shot progression on quite a number of shots because outside I would bounce the arrow off the blade, the wind would blow it off on a good gust and would have to vary the way I drew the bow and really concentrate on keeping the arrow in place, having to draw several times on certain targets. This can REALLY mess up your concentration and shot progression. Trust me after you've had to draw your bow 3 times in front of 3 guys at IBO Worlds, your not only getting tired but embarassed and frustrated. The tendency is to then rush the shot. The Zero Effect allows me to simply stand at the stake on any slope or angle in any weather, and set my breathing and draw the same on EVERY SINGLE SHOT. I don't have to even consider my arrow in relation to the rest. I can focus from the start of draw until I shoot only on the spot I want to hit. This has been a BIG plus for this season so far. And when I say season I am 5 shoots into a 15 week league which will transition into state and national competition. I wasn't expecting to say this, but the Zero Effect thus far has been the best 3D rest I've used. |
