ORIGINAL: GMMAT

I was always under the impression that their life expectancy was around 12 yrs.

Ithought so too.

It would be tough to age a deer that old.

Not sure on Deer since I've never had them officially aged, but I have killed a Black Bear that was aged 28.5 years old and a Bull Elk that was aged at 10.5 years old.:D

One of the oldest deer I have ever seen was at the check station about 4 years ago. The buck was almost completely gray, seemed like he had no brown in him at all anymore. He had broken legs and ribs and youcould see where they had grown back years ago because they would be sticking out of his body in weird ways. The guy who killed him said he was barely walking and limping. His rack was all broken up and gnarly looking, but we didn't stick around to hear how old they aged him. I wouldn't have trusted what they said anyways- seemed like every deer you took in there was "2-2.5"
