Who is welcome here?
This was posted inthe earlier thread on who is allowed by a moderator who is now and administrator.
We can't get them all. Some are "bowhunting" related because of the species we hunt. Should we move ALL deer related questions to the Deer Hunting Forum. I consider that a gun hunting forum. Again, for me, the name beside the post has no bearing on my decision to move or not move a thread. No names please (my personal favorite, 12 pages and still going) Justin and Christine allowed it, who can argue with them. And it's bawanjim, I've moved his threads before. It's bowhunting forum related. Would you buy two flash cameras or one no flash camera 125py, not a boys club guy, might be better suited in the camera forum, didn't get moved OMG better call the president. How much do you guys work out a week First paragraph talks about bowhunters being usually more fit, very bowhunting related. Euro mount help Could be fitting for the taxi forum. I've moved these before. I've moved BigJ's threads. He doesn't scare me. LOL Rack growth over the years Again, discussing our quarry. Land websites Scouting isn't bowhunting related? I think it is. Wool/wool blend parka Brand new member, bowhunting clothign related, what's the issue here? This one has me stumped, age it A touch at humor, geesh we shouldn't allow it. It is bowhunting though isn't it. SHould all deer questions go to the deer hunting forum? Again. Rack growth over the years Same. Man cave ideas (another great one) VAbowman, fairly new, no guys club here. I've moved his before. Measuring a rack at home. Second of a two part series (and up to 7 pages) A great informative post, very bowhunting contest related as well as bowhunting in general, same again. North vs. South Bowhunting in the North vs South not bowhunting related? The general deer hunting forum has about 10% of the posts that the "bowhunting" forum has. I've been reading posts here in the bowhunting forum that apply to deer hunting because the other forum is so slow. I'm not sure how aging a deer is a special skill that only bowhunters should know and why it belongs in the bowhunting forum. Same with european mounting, looking for land, etc.. If the general deer hunting forum is looked on as a gun hunting forum, why isn't it renamed? |
RE: Who is welcome here?
i'll give it 5 minutes before it is gone:D

![]() What are you getting at? I agree with him that all those are atleast somewhat bowhunting related. No one is holding you at gun point on these forums, if yall dont like the way it is ran then.... ![]() |
RE: Who is welcome here?
JNTURK
Ask to become a MOD;) In the scheme of life does it really matter? Are you going to loose sleep? Are children not going to get food? I am member at MS forum and have threads deleted and moved all the time. They are very strict. I don't care, one's here that have been moved, I don't care;) I simple just skip over threads, is it really that hard[&:] |

RE: Who is welcome here?
It just seems to me that the deer hunting forum is a step child.
I really like the take quality photos thread but it is only for bow hunters. I feel like I was one of the ones that helped get the "New Contest" started with some of my comments on that thread but I couldn't submit any photos in the contest because I am one of those dreaded gun hunters who is obviously less fit than a bow hunter. The deer hunting gun contest was a joke this year with no help from any moderators in posting stickies and helping out other than deleting some of the original posts by the person running the contest. I can accept it if the gun hunters are step children, but don't pretend, just change the name of that forum to gun hunter slobs or something like that and we will deal with it. To have a forum for deer hunting when there are more topics on the subject in the bowhunting forum than the deer hunting forum seems wrong to me. |
RE: Who is welcome here?
I honestly don't care if my posts get moved. Sometimes I forget the rules and they do get moved, not upset.. It's just the rules and sometimes my posts are borderline so they stay, I really don't see anything wrong with posting any hunting topic on here, or any related topic. But, the mods can move em if they want, that's their job.

RE: Who is welcome here?
Worry about something that is actually important in life would ya.
|
RE: Who is welcome here?
Well
Make a post in deer forum for quality pictures, PM a mod and ask that it be a stickey;) That is what I would do!! |
RE: Who is welcome here?
A forum is not made up of topics......It's made up of members! It's the members that keep the bowhunting forum alive and interesting.

RE: Who is welcome here?
i feel mis-understood....i am not here to bash mods, nor am i taking this time out of my day to complain of the wonderful job HNI personal have done with this site or there selection of MODS.....
i am not the most active on this site (like everyday users ) but i do use this site a lot for knowledge in the bowhunting world and this current set up is great....maybe just the times i have been on and seen topics moved from non-everyday members in relation to everyday members (that were off the topic of "bowhunting") seemed very heavily weighed towards non-everyday members. in the big picture of every day use maybe the balance is perfect and items are moved in fairness (however i don't feel that is the case). what ever way you look at it i fight this issue because i too once was a non-everyday member and could still be considered out of the "click"....which is fine..no problem, but for new members who want to be accepted into the site and learn a lot having their topics moved or not answered because they are new, etc. i don't feel is right nor fair....everyday is different some days i am sure you just don't want to answer the same question you answered two days ago that is now on page 3 of the forum....fine and dandy i fully understand, but moving them in greater numbers then of members in the "click" i don't feel is right nore fair.........if you want a prime example look at bulletholebailey (sorry if spelling is wrong)....i was here when he first started out and he would could rude comments on his posts as member thought he was a prangster and used multiple names and just wanted to increse his number of "stars" but now he is fully accepted and has done VERY well this year in archery hunting ... mostly thanks to many of the persons on this site.... i am simply asking to make it fair!!!! plain an simple..... |
RE: Who is welcome here?
So if there is no new posts in the deer hunting forum and there are several new post about general deer hunting in the bowhunting forum am I welcome to post on them as a gun hunter? What about starting a new post on general deer hunting in the bowhunting forum if I am a gun hunter?
It seems that bowhunters are able to post new threads in the deer hunting forum asking about general deer hunting (which is thought of as a gun hunting forum by the admins), but the reverse would not be true? |

I will post a general question here because this is where I hang out and I know the folks here (for the most part). If I hung out on theother forum more I'd ask it there. I say, if it's obvious, then move it, if it's not, what the hell is the harm?? Seems kinda "nit picky" to me. |

RE: Who is welcome here?
Smells like Cabin Fever.
I <3 the off season. Not to like... suck up or anything... but the mods and administrators who run HNI do a pretty damn good job at keeping this place running smoothly. It isn't our place to question why they do the things they do. They're in their positions for a reason and we should be thanking them rather than nit-picking and questioning every little thing theydo [or don't do.] Just my opinion... |
RE: Who is welcome here?
ORIGINAL: bullmoose38 This is a pointless thread!!!!!!!!:( again not saying it is or isn't because i don't have the numbers or are on the back side of the software to look at the numbers...but from a members stand point it appears that way to me. |
RE: Who is welcome here?
You're going to get general deer questions askedin BOTH forums by their regular members. I think they do this because over time they have gotten to know some of the members and value their opinions. Posting a general question on a forum you don't visit and don't know the folks, you can't be sure the information your getting is reliable or accurate..make sense? I will post a general question here because this is where I hang out and I know the folks here (for the most part). If I hung out on theother forum more I'd ask it there. RE: Who is welcome here?
I don't know what tell you guys. The forums aren't perfect. They've been added to here and there and there's really no way to make them both specific and all encompassing.
The deer forum isn't just gun hunting, but this forum isn't just deer hunting with a bow. Some posts get moved, some don't. Many that don't get moved are just over-looked or borderline on/off topic. Sometimes posts get left just because people are having fun with it and it seems harmless enough. I think you're being a little too sensitive if you think there is a bunch of cronyism behind what gets moved or deleted. (a little, maybe...) [:-] |
RE: Who is welcome here?
npaden, your not missing much, its the same thing over, and over and over and over again until it makes no sense so a new thread is started so the same thing can be talked about over and over and over again! Some of Quicksilvers threads are starting to make sense![8D]:D:D:D

RE: Who is welcome here?
What I don't get after reading a lot of the threads on here is, well, why are the most pointless threads the ones with the most activity?[&:] I posted a fairly long scouting thread with pictures hoping to get some insight, and it just got itself bumped right down the line under posts that were extremely random:D Oh well, such is life. Mods, you're doing just fine in my book...it's the internet, we'll all survive regardless of how this place is run.
