Cheap, and have never lost a deer with one yet. Why change what works. I still shoot an old 80s model round wheel, long limb bushmaster and a black mamba recurve. My brother has messed up some deer with carbons getting hit by trees as the deer ran, splintering them. Dont want to eat carbon slivers, its like eating glass.

I have never shot with carbon, although I am very impressed with their arrow flight (what I've seen at 3d shoots). I plan on making the switch very soon! I'm also sick of looking at bent arrows:)

I would have no trouble choosing between X7s and mid price carbons. I just shoot Easton, and wood, and in all three materials, only the top of the line. Actualy some lower priced AL are great like XX75, but I can't always get the spine I want.

I was always against carbon for hunting, because of noise and clearance issues. But these have been basicaly dealt with with new technology. Still I don't take long shots, so aluminum is the best all around tuning, accuracy, and penetration choice. I like the 2312 X7, swaged with a grizzly 100 grain.

PA, your falling into the same kind of sludge with this coment:

"I suppose it's a pet peeve of mine to hear someone say that carbon arrows are faster without explaining that is only so because they arel lighter. You can get the same stiffness as an aluminum arrow in a lighter weight because of the composition of material of the arrow."

Since when are carbons lighter? I can show you an alluminum arrow that is lighter than a carbon one. Oh, you ment for the same spine, and length! It is the modulus of the material, not its composition! In fact my pick for best arrow is Alu/carbon, now it is really going to get complicated! Let's relax, we all know what folks mean when they say carbons are faster. I think we can all agree that my gasbag posts are long enough without the requirement that they specify every single minute detail like a lab report.
