I can't believe you were actually able to get photos of this giant every year like that. ......What happened after 8.5? Is he still alive and you are waiting to photograph him again this year or did old age take its course on him.
This was an article in Field and Stream ... read the story before the pics ...... I wish I knew what happened to him ... what his sheds scored .... it is a fascinating story, though

Too bad the "tweener" year pix is missing!

what a buck though.. very cool pix
Troy, so bad I wanna see him at3 1/12 ..... the jump from 2.5 to 4.5 is massive!!
But he would onlyhave nubsforantlers in early summer/late spring.[8D]
Those nubs would be just fine.. especially if your the one picking up his sheds! wouldnt that be wicked to have those 8 years of bones!

I know some of you have seen this pic before, but this one shows the jump from 2.5 years to 3.5 years on a whitetail I hunted for 2 years in NY. Pretty amazing to say the least. He put on easily 30" in one year.

From everything I have read. After 2.5 a buck will put most of the energy into growing a rack. 2.5 and lower must of his energy goes to body growth.

Let them get old, and the bone will grow In ANY location, maybe not as much as other locations, butbone will grow, must of the time.

looks like gregH's buck
No disrespect to Greg's buck but this guy is much bigger!! What a monster he turns out to be! That was one of the coolest things I've seen yet on here. To my surprising his antlers are still growing or at least not down sizing at 8.5.
Schultzy, I ws under the impression that their racks shrunk substantially after a certain age ..... not this guy
