I hunted this past year with a 36" ATA bow and it didn't hinder me. My hunting bows this year with be 33" and 33 1/8th. Not because I chose them that short, but they just don't make a longer version.

I am with quiksilver on this debate. I myself have a 32'' martin and love the fact I can move it around with no hesitation. I am actually buying a new bow this spring and am a little upset that most of bowtech's new bows are so long! They were on top of my list, but I have not actually searched yet?
I am one of the people that are intrigued by such bows like the pse 26'' ata bows and martins 30'' bow!

I also believe that another big factor that plays is what kind of treestand? I hunt from climbers and ladder stands with the rail in front of me(scared height thing)! I know this is why I prefer a shorter ATA bow. If I hunted from lock ons it may be different??

Oh the horror![:o] A 36" ATA bow? How will I ever hunt with this thing? :eek:

Until 3 years ago I hunted with a 38" ATA bow for 10 years. Killed lots of stuff too. Imagine that.

The funny thing is that people will spend $700.00 on a short bow so it won't hit their stand and give up the most important thing called forgiveness but won't spend $200-$300 on a stand that is actually designed with the bowhunter in mind and doesn't have those rails.:eek:

Agreed about the stands. But I've shot lots of deer out of climbers with the rails, and it's just never been an issue. Never. In fact, I like having it there.

And, not to argue, but here's a question about forgiveness and short ATA. Yes, it is a FACT that longer ATA bows are inherently more forgiving than say a 32" ATA....... BUT, don't you think manufacturers have oversome at least SOME of that issue with the overall design of the bow and the cams?

NO,as a matter of fact,I believe the opposite to be true.

Short bows usually have large brace which is good BUT they flatten the limbs out to achieve this(parallel limbed) which is by design,harder to shoot,if they shot better,the pros would use them but they don't,big reason for that.Plus they increase the reflex alot to achieve the high brace which is also a minus imo.It's all about the forgiveness factor.Yes,all bows shoot better than the person behind it but it is what they are capable of when the execution is less than favorable.

As far as rails go,I don't shoot with rails but I can see no way for them to present a problem,atleast not anymore for a 36" bow compared to a 33" one.
