RE: Top end bucks in your area

Top end for "my area" well I saw a really nice buck that would have scored mid 130's this year, on a brand new piece of property I got permission on this year. If i hadn't found this place the top end for my area would have been around a 100 incher.

Top end for the entire area, there was at least one 170' class killed this year and I know of another 170 killed a couple years ago, near where I had a lease that one of our group dropped the ball on and we lost.

RE: Top end bucks in your area

I would say top end bucks in my area would be above 160. For sake of argument 'my area' is about a 8 mile diameter circle. Nontypicals are really rare where I hunt but 10-20 miles west or north of my hunting areas sees a 200"er (nontyp.) fall almost every year. In 8 years of hard bowhunting I have seen three live 'for sure' booners in 'my area' and they have all escaped me. I have seen perhaps half a dozen more that were borderline (around 170) in the same time frame and been fortunate enough to get one of them. All together I have seen probably a dozen 160"+ deer in eight years in my area. One this year is all. (Thank god for luck!)

I spent a TON of time in the woods my first 5 years too, 60-100 days a year so I believe my statistics can be trusted quite a bit. Every 160+ deer I have seen has been a typical, the biggest one was havested by a hunter after two seasons of my futile chasing and grossed 196" or so. I have only seen two nontypicals in the same 8 year span, in MY AREA, that would go in the 150s, one of which my brother took.

I would say top end around here is 100" to 120". Personally I have have not seen any of the 120" bucks in the field but I have seen a few pictures over the years of bucks that have been taken not too far away. I plan on heading to Ohio this coming season to hunt some larger bucks.

Dear Duke,
You must be smarter than that, the above in bold type is what the entire thread is about.

You can comprehend can't you?
Greg.. all I got to say is you are awesome. You are kinda like arguing with my wife.. we get on a subject.. and then you go and change it. I realize what the thread was about.. Justin and I were merely discussing Lake county with you. I am sorry for your confusion.. I thought it was very clear. Again.. I apologize.

Like, fighting, with my wife.. I feel the need to actually make sense.
