any advise for a first timer getting ready to go. How do you know if its a good boar or not etc.........thanks..........mitch

What are you useing to hunt with,bow or gun?

to tell if it is a trophy,it is like a buck deer. you have to look at size and shape of the body.the front end should be thick and large,wide thick shoulders.the hair on top of back,long and standing high.look for the curled up lip,to see if he has tush.

you learn what to look for with each trip out.

ill use my bow for first couple days and last resort using a rifle. we will hunt in texas in march.

Ive always judged them like bears. Look for there body sive in relation to the ground, tusks, the eyes will eventually sink into the head when the boars skill gets real big, the hair on its back, etc. Make sure you get a quartering away shot on a big boar, sometimes the arrows wont get very far in the animal if u hit the muscle, and it will almost always not penetrate the shoulder.

My favorite animal to hunt is wild hogs. I have killed and eaten many large boars. Not as good as a big sow, but nothing compairs to wild boar. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMgood. Good luck.
