Rumors are flying

Here in western Iowa that the new world record whitetail was taken by muzzleloader not 5 miles from my house. It has been said it will come close to 400"s which I find a little hard to believe. Last year they were doing flyovers by helicopter doing a population check and a monster was spotted and they said then that it was the next world record. If anyone has heard anything about this deer please let me know. I have calls into the DNR but haven't heard anything back as of yet. Just seems a little farfetched that a deer could come close to 400"s.

If you had the chance at a big non-typical I know you'd shoot it and so do you! [:-]

Oh hell yeah Greg but if I had two standing side by side I'd pick the typical...Now I'm talking the freak racks like Beatty's and that former Goliath buck....they just don't impress me.

I prefer the looks of a nice symetrical typical. However, to me non-typicals are rare, I've only seen 1 from my stand in over 40 years. They still impress me though and my goal is to shoot one some day even though I like typicals better.

How can 300 inches of antler on a wild deer not be impressive!!??

I like mass, any kind of mass.

I love those big narly non's and the big typicals.

I think I like the really big non's better than the typicals, maybe because I grew up with a 196" typical on the wall of my house.

Rob's just tired of shooting his "non typical" half racks, that's why he doesn't like them.:D

I’m not saying that it’s not true but 400” in the wild is hard to believe.

I have my doubts about this, and would prolly go with the just a rumor people.

What is not a rumor is the world record buck was killed just 10 min from my house. (Not a hunting kill tho).

If you've ever held a 400" elk rack, you'll know how nearly impossible this sounds. Even if it's a Photoshop job, I'm sure we'd all like to see what a 400" deer looks like. Bring on those pics...

I agree with the earlier post regarding a 400" elk.

Did Rompola relocate or have family in that area???[8D]

This is buck is estimated in the 270" range. My question is where would you stick another 130" on this animal???[:o]

I saw a picture of that deer today in a gunshop. I was told it wasthe new World Record, but I didn't get the score or anything. It was just a picture that looked like it had been printed off of the email. I didn't pay too much attention to it though. Now I wish I would have.It sure was a nice deer though.............

That's not the picture I am talking about. I didn't see these before I posted. I am talkingabout the original post that said that a new WR had been shot close to his house.

Sorry fellas as of now I am too also saying that it is a crock. Haven't heard anything since the first day except for everyone asking me what I heard about it. I even asked the game warden and he hadn't heard anything and I am pretty sure he would be the first one to know. So until I see some rack hard proof it looks like I jumped the gun on this one. I guess it is a lesson well learned get the proof before I open my big mouth. I think I will tell the guy that told me about it to do the same. Alot of people at the DNR are talking about it but they would love to have a animal that size taken from our area for monetary reasons for the state.

Dude, there are at least 3-4 non-typicals in the300 inch range in the record bookand the record book does not allow "farm animals".

There are wild deer with that much antler on their head.
