I got mine late in the season this year and Love it !!! I have also used the seat-o-the-pants harness. I think the HSS is alot less complicated to put on. The gear pockets could be a lil bigger but thats why we carry packs !!!

I like using the summit prussic knot teather with mine instead of the strap that came with it. this way it allows you to climb and decend while teathered to the tree the whole time (always connected) and allows a little more room for those twisted around the tree shots.

Agreed. Very comfortable. Ididnt have one for early season, but I have worn one since it got cold. I wear it under my outer layer.
It kind of compresses your under layers, which helps keep you warm. Plus, like stated above, you dont even notice its on.
Just a tip, dont feed the strap through the harness tether. Put a carabiner on the tether, attach the tree strap to the tree and then clip the harness tether to the tree strap with the carabiner.
This allows you to unclip if you need to in order to make a tough shot, and, if you are in a tree with branches or have an adjacent trees branches close enough and your stand fails, you can unclip if you need to in order to get footing and/or climb down using said branches.
Just a good idea in my opinion.

I have used one for years now and will not go into a tree without it! I also use the Lone Wolf tether, rope carabiner/prussic knot style. So much easier to adjust. The strap that comes with the HSS that goes around the tree is the only downfall with the HSS.

Only ONE PROBLEM with them.
First off, I love it. It's secure and the pockets and slash pockets are extremely usefull for holding range finder etc. You will get used to wearing it and finding out how to make it work. Eventually you'll forget it's there.
Now the problem, I had the full fabric model and thought I just had to have to NEW and IMPROVED model with the mesh fabric. I gave my old one to my nephew. Big Mistake.... The problem with the mesh one is that the fabric catches in the tree bark if you lean back against the tree or slide along it or something. I've actually had a couple times where I went to stand up quietly while a deer approached and gotten the fabric hook/caught on the bark and couldn't move without making noise. You have to try and wiggle, shift, squat back down or whatever to get it unhooked. I'd buy the full fabric model. It's cheaper and quieter.

I have the mesh harness (approx.$140) and am very comfortable knowing that I am safe while climbing and hunting in my stand. One thing that you have to get used to is that you are somewhat limited to freely moving from side to side when at full draw. There are restrictions because of the tether strap dangling from the tree behind you and connected to your harness neckline. Try shooting from your stand with your harness on before going to the woods. They make a caribiner that quickly hooks and unhooks so that you can move more freely but then your harness would not be effective and safe.

I have to agree with BloodCreek about the mesh model harness. It does infact catch and/or snag on anything from treebark to your trigger/release. The holes in the mesh fabric catchs on must anything that itcomes into contact with, I guess that's why they call it hunting and not "killing"...lol

That was my complaint Ridge. LOL And yes I know you can wear it under neath Blood, but in doing so you can't use all the neat little pockets that are great. Besides not being able to use them, you paid extra bucks to have them in the first place. If you aren't going to use them you might as well wear one of the strap type harnesses. Make sure you get the prusics rope for it. It's the only way to go. I also bought the linemans belt attachment which works.... but no where near as good as a real linemans belt.
