I just want to know how far is the farthest you have ever seen a trophy buck get after being shot in the heart and lungs??? The reason I ask is because yesterday when we were hunting a friend of mine shot a very nice 160 buck and we tracked him..." />

Honeslty I would rather shoot a standing deer 200 yards away than a running deer at 80 yards[].

Most shouldn't take either shot, so I guess arguing ethics on this one is sort of pointless.

Most of the newer shotguns with rifled barrels paired with the new high powered slugs on the market are very capable out to 200 yards.

Most slugs however are 300 grain chunks of lead and do some serious damage. I don't see a deer shot with a slug through the heart running a half mile.

Too bad Ithaca Arms is out of business. I agree, I don't think I would have taken either shot with a slug gun. Now, with "Sweetness", I would have taken the shot at twice that distance and not thought twice about it.
