I drove by the farm I hunted all season long last night. In October and November I saw a total of 4 deer. There were at least 8 other people hunting the same 100 acres as me. The deer were almost non existent.

Last night, I drove by the picked cornfield and counted at least 15 deer in the field. That's the most I've ever seen at this place. 13 does and fawns. One spike, and one 6 point. The weather was cold (22 deg) and a winter strom was on the way. I was pretty happy to see that 6 point survive the gun season. He'll get another summer to grow, and he could be a nice buck next year.

The hunting pressure has died off, and all the deer have moved back in. I don't think anybody has hunted there since the end of November. It's a great feeling to see that many deer after gun season. I can't wait for next year.

Yeah they are comin to the fields hard core here. 10 inches of snow really cold and a crusty layer on the snow has em in the fields early. Gonna be a good late season to wack some nannys as the buck tag is filled. Went for the doe season last weekend and the deer were everywhere. We've killed about 60 deer off this 500-600 acr farm this year and there is still groups of 10-15comin out in about everyother field. Friday night we had 11 in the field I was on. 3rd deer in the field go figure was a very nice 9 that I had at 35 yards opening weekend of archery and my arrow fell off my rest, and we would ahve ahd the whole hunt on video, he would gross about 140 I supose. Can't wait to get on him next year.We video taped him for awhile and the rest of the deer came out to eat and I picked out the biggest doe and let her have it. Got some good video of the buck and killand it was the first kill I've made with the 90gr .270 shells I loaded up. Sunday night I let my buddy man the gun and me the camera and we had 10 in the field and another guy hunting shot one. Well they ran off and 20 minutes later they were all back out in the field and we were gonna shoot one 400 yard shot but the farmer came to get the deer with his tractor and they ran off so we made a last ditch effort and caught 3 movin off to our left and we shot the big doe with 5 minutes left to WI gun hunting season. Unlucky doe, haha......... Its been awhile since we had good snowy cold weather to hunt late season so I'm pretty jacked. Hopefully we'll get some good video of the big bucks that I know made it through the year and get on some sheds later. WCL

It's amazing how these animals can just pop up out of no where.

It's one of the reasons I love hunting late season so much... less competition, and the deer are somewhat back on their feeding patterns, albeit cautiously.

To confirm, I just got a call from a landowner here in Missouri whom I hunt on periodically to let me know "the deer are back."

They came from NC.

Yeah...deer are moving in Mich. now. My dad has been muzzleloader hunting and he saw 3 bucks one time out...and they were chasing a doe! He gave them all a pass, although he is kicking himself. He saw a young 4 point, a young 7 point, and then another 4 point with not much for a rack whatsoever. He thinks he saw this deer last year and the year before and thinks it might be like 6 or 7 years old. Although we are passing up the young bucks, if he sees this one again and can confirm that it is past his prime, he will definitely try to take it out of the herd.

Oh, BTW, he is hunting just west of Montrose, MI...I saw that gzg38bis from Flushing, which is within 20 minutes of where we hunt.

That statementis false. The deer know that there is certain treebark hunter in this direction. They actually came from WI, Racine to be exact.

I'm gonna give it another week then I'll be out guarding the cornfields myself.

I've been seeing out in the fields by my house at all times of the day...They are putting the feed bag on now that the rut is over. Got to gain that weight back up for the cold winter months ahead.
