RE: A little ticked off after the season.......
ORIGINAL: Schultzy I didn't take it the wrong way by no means! I totally understand what your saying.;)You can honestly tell me that if you didn't have your own land to hunt you wouldn't hunt at all on state land? As much as I hate hunting state land, I'd have to I guess. I love bow hunting to much! -Man, that makes me sick. Just shows what kind of people are out there, I know if I would have shot a deer and come to find out that it had already been shot I wouldnt feel right to claim it and would be more than happy to give it up. Makes you wonder what people are thinking somtimes. |
RE: A little ticked off after the season.......
ORIGINAL: GMMAT That's totally different, Schultzy. Sure I'd hunt.....but not bowhunt during the gun season (If I had to put up with such). It would likely take all the fun out of it, for ME. Who knows? |
RE: A little ticked off after the season.......
ORIGINAL: Schultzy Some of these gun hunters are just pricks! Sorry to hear what happened Ron. |
RE: A little ticked off after the season.......
Thats sucks! I used to bowhunt during gun season, to many hunters in the woods, so I joined them with the Shotgun in hand, killed a few, which was cool! Now, I take my Flintlock Muzzleloader out during gun season. Somewhat the same challenge as Bowhunting, they need to be in close and you only get 1 shot!!!!!! I look forward to the muzzleloader season because I really enjoy being in the woods with my Flintlock in hand! Good times!!!!!!!:):):):):)

GMMAT,
I am not sure what the regs are up in PA but here in Nebraska you either buy an archery permit or you buy a rifle permit. There is no swapping and if you tag a deer with an archery permit and it has a gun hole thru it then you can see what I mean. It may be different up there though. |
RE: A little ticked off after the season.......
I had a similar thing happen years ago. Sorry to hear its still going on. But I'm not realy supprized.
I shot a smallbuck years ago with a 12 ga in WV. It ran because I'm a bowhunter and I amed for vitals not shoulder (I know better now) anyway about a minute after I shot I hear 3 shots Not real fast but not slow in the direction he ran. I was bretty sure I had killed the deer. I walk 50 yards and there is two guys standing over my buck. I asked him if it was hit. He said "Uh ...?Uh I don't think so" Right! I ask if I can take a look. Now remember I was shooting a 12 ga and he ad a 30 cal of some sort. Anyway I move the deers leg and see a huge hole perfect heart shot. So the guy starts saying the deer was running blah blah....The only shot I saw that he said he took it down with was a shot to the head. Guess what perfect hole in perfect hole out. The deer was on the ground. Later the guy says he has killed a bunch with that gun and only recently sighted it in. .......... I didn't argue. It wasn't worth it. I just figured if he needed it that bad to say he killed it I was fine I knew I killed it. BTW I wathced him gut it. The heart came out in two peices. |
RE: A little ticked off after the season.......
In NY, you can use a bow or muzzleloader during the regular (shotgun, in my region) season, but if you take a deer you have to use the REGULAR tag (or DMP tag if you have one), not your bow or muzzleloader tag.
Just to play devil's advocate, I grew up hunting PA and I know how the hunting season is there (especially on public land), BUT most of these gun hunters take their gun and go out for one or two weekends A YEAR to hunt. They don't know the first thing about bow hunting. I am sure if you asked a lot of gun hunters, they would assume that if you shoot a deer with a bow, it drops just like it does for a gun. It would not surprise me if a deer ran down to a guy (especially if he didn't hear a shot) and he shot it again. That still doesn't excuse him from notrelenting after you reason with him (and show him the hole.) Just a different perspective on it. |
