Hey....I thought you were past traditonal deer management. Take him out and bring the ratio back in check!!! [8D]

Think we can get a QDM chat going in a Scent-Loc thread? That would be the ultimate. [&:]

I'm not sure I want to resurrect this thread , but feel compelled to add my 2 cents.
Let's not argure for a minute. I want to address Dr. Thompson's TESTING. ( not theories or beliefs)
The test results are consistent with the manufacturer's statements thus far. The staement(s) I am referring to are that SL can adsorb human odor. SL has NEVER claimed that it will adsorb100% ofyour odor.
(The "forget the wind" statement is Scent Blocker( licensed by SL), so let's eliminate that from the discussion.)

SL states that a suit will last about 5 years. NOT FOREVER. It'sin thier product info. This is consistent with the diminished adsorbtion capacity after the 20 washings/reactivations of Thompson's tests. The capacity reduced to an adsorbtion rate of 52% from 97%. It is obvious that after several washing and reactivations the carbon cannot be "cleaned" of adsorbed materials. It becomes increasingly more full as it is used.

The temperature's necessary toFULLY reactivate the carbon have been reported to be in the 1000's of degrees. Let's not argue that.It would appear that; based on the testing ; that PARTIAL reactivation can occur. FULL reactivation cannot occur in a household dryer. Partial reactivation CAN. With each laundering and dryer cycle, less of the adsorbed material is removed and I'm sure that some adsorbed material is easier to remove than others.
Thus the manufacturer's statements that the suit is effective for 5 years. Beyond that you probably won't get the results we want.

I am not a chemist. I'm not going to disscredit anyone on here. I don't work for Scent-Lok. I use it because it works for me and I'd recommend it to anyone.
No one has asked Wildlife Research who hired the scientist that says their product kills 99% of replicated human odor. Why? Is it the cost difference? I don't know.

As far as the law suit is concerned. That Outdoor writer is in the background of it all. He's got sour grapes from years ago when he wasn't asked to play anymore.
