RE: Neck shot

Even if ican i wont take 'raking' shots any more with a gun much less a bow. proccess that deer yourself and you will understand WHAT i am refering to. Can it be done? Yes........but chances are you are wasting a ton of meat when you take it. Which to me is important.

I have never had the possibility. I would not w/ the bow... but would possibly w/ shotgun or rifle depending on the distance and actual shot presented.

RE: Neck shot

Ive seen it done with about a 50/50 recovery. I wont take it. If you got a shot at the neck, you will get a shot at the vitals, if your patient. Ive never, ever had a situation that Icould only get a neck shot. The body has got to follow the head, so it will present a body shot. If not, what have you lost??? Nothing. If you screw up the shot, you have just killed a deer that you will never recover.

Just too much room for error.

i was just asking cuz i have seen alot of guys shootat the rangeand they are very acurrate, and i was just thinking that if you are at 10 yards or less and the only thing you see on the deer is the neck if it would be a good shot. but i guess not.....i did not know i was going to get this many responses....thanks for the advice.....still trying to get my first deer.
Most all of use are very accurate. Its not hard to be a good shot with todays bows, but its still too low % to consider. The body will follow the neck, just wait.

What about the shot that's straight on......into the brisket? Would you take that one? I've seen several hit there on this board, it seems.
Nope.
