So far I have only killed six this season but I will likely tag a few more if I can get my butt in the woods, so more would be good. Between VA and NC I get 5 buck tags and unlimited doe tags(DMAP in VA). I usually get at least 2-3 deer processed into burger and sausage and keep 6 or 8 ham roasts. Between my house and my parents we will use most of the meat by next Oct. and then the cycle begins again. I donate 100's of pounds of meet to Hunters For The Hungry (some places will give you a charitable donation reciept for tax purposes) and I keep a lot of people(anyone who asks)at work fat with venison. I would say that I kill way more deer than I "need" but it definitely doesn't get wasted. Is there anybody else that likes the killing part? Don't get me wrong I am not a bloodthirsty caveman, I enjoy hunting all the time, kill or no kill, but I really enjoy a hunt that ends with a deer or two in my truckbed. There, I said it, I like killing deer.
The truth shall set you free - "I like killing deer" he says; well me too! We're all killers here, some just don't like to admit it, they're not proud of what they see in the mirror, they feel that it is too ugly a term. Not me baby, I'm a killer plain and simple. And... I enjoy it.

Not ashamed to admit it. I'm with the Primate. I get unlimited doe tags and unless its peak rut or I'm just feeling lazy that day, I try and shoot every mature doe that gives me an opportunity. We have an over abundance of deer where I live so I'm killing 2 birds with one stone so to speak. Helping with conservation and scratching my killing itch at the same time. Last year shot 9 deer. This year shot 4 but missed 4 also. If I shot and harvested every deer I had an opportunity to draw on, my numbers would be in the 30-40 range easy. Would that be enough? I dont know. As a side note all meat was donated toa feed the homeless program.

I killed 2 does this season, just right for my area due to pressure on adjoining properties. Population is pretty well as it should be for deer per square mile. But I would like to see a one buck limit instituted in Illinois. Too many bucks are being taken by to many hunters(mostly during firearm). Buck/doe ratio seems to be out of whack in 2007.[>:]

On does, I am not resticted by either tags, or opportunity. I kill what I want/need without any problem, yet don't really have to "work" at it either. Our herd is pretty much in balance, so I am not tasked with killing too many does, and with a one buck limit things don't get out of whack too easy. There are times I wish we could shoot more than one buck, but if it were that way then I would have to shoot more does to make up for the people that wouldn't shoot enough. I am content with where I am at.

When I want to satisfy my bloodthirsty killing need, then I gear up for pigs or coyotes. That is war, deer are for fun. If that makes any kind of backward sense.
