How many have shot mature bucks they've seen before?
#1
How many of you have shot a buck you've seen before? Mature bucks 3 1/2 and older. This doesn't have to mean that you were specifically hunting the buck, just that you saw him before you killed him.
11 out of 17 for me. Including 1 gun buck. With a range of 3 days to 1 year between sighting and killing. This includes bucks that I was speciffically hunting. Not included were two bucks that I saw before but missed.[&:]
Tell us about them and include the time between the sighting and taking him.
Thanks

I’ve done it twice.
One I saw 2 days prior to shooting him.
The other I am about 99% sure I saw him over the summer, (late summer still in velvet) and then not again until the day I killed him.

Buck No. 1.
3.5 yr old buck - Harvested 12/9/06.
I saw him for the first time when Rob/PA was here.....crossing the road, near where I hunt (11/17/06). I saw him again on Thanksgiving day.....and I shot at him. My arrow deflected and I found it only this year while glassing. The arrow deflected and went into a tree.
I saw him again the very next day.....but he offered no shot opportunity.
I saw him, again 12/9/06.....and I brought him home with me with a 33yd shot.

Buck No. 02 was this year's buck....and the buck I called "The Bull". Here's my HNI Journal entry on him.

Gamecam photos......check the dates (
), temps, etc...
And my Harvest photo....
Had to be two years+ from the time I first saw him until I took him.

Here's a cool series of photos....(I think
)
gamecam photo is from 2006 (first time I saw the bucks I would later take).
Harvest photos are of the two deer in the photo in 2 consecutive seasons. The younger deer is 3.5 and the last one was 4.5 yrs old.
(Although they're both 3.5 in the photo)
