Get This... Observations from hunting today (rut??)

So, I was perched atop a tree with a good 3 inches of snow. The weather has been wild lately but the deer were digging for acorns around me. About 4:30, early for late season deer to come out, a young doe trots by followed by a grunting six point. The buck had a great body, just no rack. Couldn't get the video camera on him so no shot. Still rutting in Michigan? Crazy. Anyone have ideas / same thing happening?

It's probably because there are so many does that it takes the remaining bucks two estrous cycles to breed them. We have a similar situation here in Eastern NC with a high doe to buck ratio.

I don't know... I found it bazaar (sp?) I am heading out again Wednesday to see if I can get a crack at him or her.
