I am flattered, thanks guys.
Good fortune has been in my corner, and, yes,I am graciously thankful for every day I spend in the woods. As many of you know, I have a six year old son who suffered a stroke in uterus. I watch every morning as this young man strugglesto dosimple tasks-brushing his teeth, for example. So yes, I easily recognize my good fortune. I would give it all back if it meant having my son's life unhindered.
I am not a rich man by any means...I know many more capable than I. I save. I plan. I execute (this works better than dreaming). You willfind me bending over to pick up pennies...
I spent a lot of time doing my homework. I research DIY destinations regularly. That New Zealand hunt, for example, can be accomplished for under $2500 US (6-8 different animals. Let me tell you how). And that includes airfare! I rely on friend who share the same passsion for hunting/life as I. Routinely we swap opportunities.. Really, what is hunting if it cannot be shared? Isn't that why we are all here?
Trust me, my door is always open! If I cannot be there personallyto lend a hand, I will at least point you in the right direction.
Honestly, I hate thedirectionhunting is going. I like it the old way when a person could knock on a neighbor's door and aquire permission to hunt. Money has a way of destroying everything!
I do work in real estate. I have worked for a developer for nearly 29 years. I pull weeds, frame and drywall, do plumbing and electrical work, etc, etc. Whatever it takes to get the job done! I am formally trained in architecture ( I have a master's degree from the University of Colorado). Ihave four weeks of vacation a year. I spend one to twoweeks/year with my family and the balance hunting. I make good use ofweekends and holidays! I have a beautiful wife who supports me in my endeavors. I do side jobs whenever possible to help pay for hunting trips. I balance it all just like the rest of you...my family means everything to me.
I am more than willing to take everyonealong with me. There are times when I beg to have companionship! Rob, for the record, it was 18 hours to hunt four...it would have been nice to have someone to chat with while pushing forward and back.
I am a goal driven individual. I have three hunting goals: 1) to shoot all 29 North American big game species, 2) to kill a good "representation of the species" deer in all fifty states, 3) to complete SCI's World Hunting Award Program with a bow. As you can see, I face a pretty stiff challenge. I have very little time to let the moss gather at my feet.
I hope this sheds some light...I am truly just one of the boys.
