Not sure if all tags are the same, however I do know that an IL landowner Archery tag and Gun tag look the same.
Both need to be applied to the antlers after the kill / before transporting.
Therefore, no way to tell.

I let that one walk... i was hoping noone else would shoot that little guy... I figure if hes almost a trophy this year hes gonna make a half assed trophy next year I cant believe they would shoot that little thing..

Holy smokes, that's a slammer for sure! That's a gun tag, the Illinois Gun tags are affixed by adhesive where the bow tags you have to use your own means to put on the tag.It has two holes punched in it for that reason. I use (like most) a zip tie to put mine on.
You can see in the photo the tag is stuck together. Doesn't matter though, that's a awesome buck!

I thought the same thing but what Orion pointed out was that the landowners tags and the firearm tags look the same, which he is right. I completely forgot about the landowners tags.
