My 10pt grossed 161" and my buddy's 18pt grossed 209" and netted 193 B&C Non-typical

The one I shot this year doesn't seem to have a throat patch. Someone on here pointed that out to me when I posted its pic. Is that rare?
Can anyone answer this? I've never given it much thought.
It's not common. The doe I took last year didn't have one either and my best bud who apprenticed as a taxidermist said it's the first he's seen. He's seen quite a few capes as well.........

This got me thinking, so I went back and looked at some of my old Pics, and realized the first deer I ever killed had a double throat patch.

They're all over the place where I hunt here in MO. I've got a 130" eight point on the wall that has a double throat patch (i'll try to find a pic). I've seen at least 2 does and2young bucksthat have them this year. I've never seen one in the field without a throat patch.
